KEEP ALLEN BEAUTIFUL BOARD
REGULAR MEETING
MARCH 18, 2008 - 6:30 P.M.

1. Call to Order and Announce a Ouorum is Present
With a quorum present, Keep Allen Beautiful Regular Meeting was called to order by
Chair Pat Buckley at 6:40pm on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 in the Council Conference
Room at City Hall, 305 Century Parkway, Allen, Texas.
2. Public Recognition/Citizens Comments/introduction of Guests
Denise Webre and Marion Lewis from the Allen Garden Club were introduced.
3. Presentation of Grant Requests: DELA, Allen Garden Club, Rountree
Elementary School
DECA emailed a request for funding to help two students attend competition to
present their recycling promotion.
MOTION: Kerry Craven made a motion to fund the DELA request for $132. Trent
Armstrong seconded the motion with all in favor.
Allen Garden Club presented a request for funding for up to three banners for their
annual garden tour at a cost of $300 per sign.
MOTION: Kerry Craven made a motion to purchase all three banners for a total of
$900 to support the Allen Garden Club spring tour. Beverly Pruitt seconded the
motion with all in favor

Allen Foundation for Schools forwarded a request from Rountree Elementary to fund
bus transportation for a field trip to the CWD MRF in Dallas.
MOTION: Kerry Craven made a motion to fund $225 for the bus for the Rountree
Elementary School to tour the CWD MRF Jason Shepard seconded the motion with
all in favor.
3. Update by Parks and Recreation on Various and Upcoming Events
No updates were available.
MOTION: Kerry Craven made a motion to purchase a gift of under $100 for Susan.
Stacy Gonzales seconded the motion with all in favor.
4. Approve minutes of January 15, 2008
MOTION: Jason Shepard made a motion to approve the February 19, 2008 minutes
with amendments. Beverly Pruitt seconded the motion with all in favor.
5. Receive Financial Report/Budge[
The City KAB account balance is $12,972.45. The KAB bank account balance is
$19,692.05.
8. Update on KAB Events
• SmartScapes seminar (Ms. Green Thumb), March 20, Sr Rec Center, 10-
12noon
• Reuse a Shoe Contest, March 25 — April 18
o Council recognition for winners will be scheduled after the GAC
• Great American Cleanup (GAC), April 26, 8 — Ipro, Bossy Boots Circle:
additional adult volunteer assistance will be needed at City Hall for the Brinks
Document Shred. Collin county Court teens will assist.
• FAB report to Council — May 13, 6:30pm, Council Conference Room
• CWD report to Council — May 13, 7pm, Council Chambers
• KTB Youth Awards Due — May 13
• Eagle Scout Recognition — May 13, 7pm, Council Chambers
• KTB Conference, June 24-27, Irving
• Educator's Expo — Sept 25 (tentative), 4:30 — 6:00pm
• SmartScape (WaterWise Landscaping) Fall Seminar — Oct: considering a
Master Composter class also
7. GCAA, Individual and Youth Awards
Discussion of writers, requirements and individuals for submissions.
8. Environmental Center
Discussion of centers to visit and items of interest to observe.
10. Items of Interest to the Board
• Ryan Hicks', National Arbor Day Poster Contest submission won third place
in the Texas Forest Service Trinity Blacklands section of the state contest
• All were in favor of offering the Yardman Vac to the Allen Garden Club as a
raffle item during their spring tour. Money raised will be directed to the
Children's Garden at Molsen Farm.
11. Adiourn
The regular session of the Keep Allen Beautiful Board was adjourned at 8:15pm
on Tuesday, March 17, 2008.
