CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS

Present : Mayor Gentry T. Jones
Aldermen-R. B. Whisenant, Phil Pringle, Jimmy Gantt,
C. E. Ottaway and B. J. Enloe.
B. J. Enloe came in late.
Mr. Stephenson, engineer for J. M. Whisenant, presented
plat on Installment #5 of the Whisenant Estates for the approval
of the City Council. Streets, Water lines and Sewer lines as
shown, The City Council asked that the plat be turned over to
our City Engineer to be checked before approving the plat.
Mayor Jones talked with the council about hiring Mr. Hester
Lewis as City Police in the near future.
Motion by C. E. Ottaway to offer Mr. Lewis $250.00 per month and
some car expenses. Seconded by Jimmy Gantt, Motion passed-Ayes 4,
Noes 0.
Motion by Phil Pringle to pay bills presented by City Secretary.
Seconded by R. B. Whisenant. Motion passed-Ayes 4, Noes 0.
R. B. Whisenant brought the council up to date on the New
Fire Truck. The two bids received were from Central and Interstate
Companies. Mr. Whisenant recommended that we deal with Central
presenting figures from both companies on the truck body equipped
with fire fighting equipment.
Motion by C. E. Ottaway that we except the bid from Central Fire
Truck Co. with a price of approximately $8,590. Seconded by B.
J. Enloe. Motion Passed-Ayes 5, Noes 0.
Motion by Jimmy Gantt that we except bid on Chevrolet Truck. Seconded
by B. J. Enloe. Motion Passed-Ayes 5, Noes 0.
Motion by C. E. Ottaway that the Mayor be authorized to sign contract
on the Fire truck cab, chassis and body. Seconded by R. B. Whisenant.
Motion Passed-Ayes 5, Noes 0.
Motion by Jimmy Gantt that we change our meeting night from
the 2nd and 4th Thursday night to the 1st and 3rd Thursday night
at 7:30 P.M. beginning Oct. 1st, 1964. Seconded by C. E. Ottaway.
Motion Passed-Ayes 5, Noes 0.
Motion by Phil Pringle to adjorn meeting. Seconded by Jimmy
Gantt. Motion Passed-Ayes 5, Noes.O.
