Call to Order
With a quorum of the Board members present, the Keep Allen Beautiful Regular Meeting was called
to order by Chair Simmons at 7:10 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2001, in the Council Conference Room

at City Hall, One Allen Civic Plaza, Allen, Texas.
2. Introduction of Guests
Guests present were Terry Holley, Community Services Crew Leader, and Susan Campbell, Urban
Forester of the City of Allen Parks and Recreation Department.
3. Approve the Minutes of the March 20, 2001 Regular Meetine
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Board member Shelia Curtis and a second by Board member Audrey
Smyth, the Board voted four (4) for and none (0) opposed to approve the Minutes of the
March 20, 2001, Regular Meeting with two corrections. The motion carred.
4. Project Updates
• Discussion was held regarding the upcoming Spring Clean Up and Arbor Day event scheduled
April 28, 2001. Steve Massey and Terry Holley led the discussion regarding the layout of the
Spring Spruce Up. Discussion also included signage, court assigned volunteer participation,
traffic control, placement of dumpster containers, ACO participation, and tree/tree guide
distribution.
• No membership update was available.
5. Items of Interest to the Board
• Chair Simmons reported that Kay McKenna resigned from the KAB board.

Curtis, the Board voted four (4) for and none (0) opposed to approve the motion to transfer
Kay McKenna's duties to Less Stelcz.
• Financial reportibudget, Board member Smyth reported that there is $11,678.01 in the KAB
account.
• Discussion of new programs to be supported with 2001-2002 budget. Budget workshop meeting
was set for Monday, April 23, 2001 in the first floor large conference room at 2.00 p.m.
• KAB Hothne—No report.
• Discussion of the Keep Texas Beautiful annual meeting in Fort Worth, June 29-30. Board
members Lesa Stelcz and Audrey Smyth will attend.
• Governor's Award—No discussion.
• Susan Campbell lead the discussion concerning the current status of the wildflower project.
Discussion included newspaper article explaining the program, signs for the medians, moving the
wildflower project to greenbelts, and planting in August. Susan offered to place signs in the
appropriate areas.
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Board member Audrey Smyth and a second by Board member Shelia
Curtis, the Board voted four (4) for and none (0) opposed to approve the motion to purchase
informational signs at a cost of no more than $1000 to he placed in wildflower project areas.
The Board voted four (4) for and none opposed. The motion carred.
• Walraven Book Cover — Example of the book cover was passed to Board members. Revised
book cover is on order.
• Audrey Smyth reminded Board members that membership dues are due.
• Susan Campbell informed the Board that no more trees will be planted until October.
10. Adiourn
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Board member Audry Smyth and a second by Board member Shelia
Curtis, the Board voted four (4) for and time (0) opposed to adjourn the regular session of the
Keep Allen Beautiful Board at 8,40 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2001. The motion carried.
These minutes were approved on L day of /0,A, 5 -F , 2001.
