Call to Order
With a quorum of the Board members present, the Keep Allen Beautiful Regular Meeting was called
to order by Co -Chau Buckley at 7:33 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2001, in the Council Chambers
Conference Room at City Hall, One Allen Civic Plaza, Allen, Texas.
Introduction of Guests
No guests were present.
3. Approve the Minutes of the September 18, 2001 Renular Meeting
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Board member Less Stelcz and a second by Board member Sheila
Curtis, the Board voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed to approve the Minutes of the
September 18, 2001, Regular Meeting. The motion carred.
Items of Interest to the Board
• Financial reportibudget. Steve Massey reported that there is $5925.65 in the KAB account The
new budget for Beautification includes money for the educational emphasis this year
• KTB Training Schedule.
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Board member Less Stelcz and a second by Board member Susan
Bernard, the Board voted seven (7) for and none against to invite Dan Roberts to present a Keep Texas
Beautiful training session.
• Dan Roberts of KTB will be asked to do a training session for Keep Texas Beautiful on
November 12 from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm with a pizza supper. Discussion of taping the session and
thank you gifts for Mr. Roberts.
• Fall School Educational Outreach, Donna Kliewer reported that all educational materials for
Texas Recycles Day coloring and poster contests have been distributed. Discussion of contest
judging by Board members and volunteers, awards to be given out at Texas Recycles Day by
Mayor Terrell, display of winners' entries. Pat Buckley reported that Allen High School had
entries for Recycled Art contest.

MOTION: Upon a motion made by Board member Sheila Curtis and a second by Board member Susan
Bernard, the Board voted seven (7) for and none against to accept recycled art entries from Allen High School
and award prizes to the top three entries.
Fall Event Advanced Planning. Discussion included plans to display winners of poster/coloring
contests and to award prizes at this event; trash bags, vests for participants, assignment maps,
release forms. Susan Bernard and Less Stelcz will use KAB Costco card for donuts and juice.
Discussion of Board members taking pictures of groups at work; Board members will scatter after
registration to photograph the event.
Miscellaneous items of interest. Discussion of Christmas parade participation to promote
Christmas tree recycling. Discussion of KTB Convention next year. Discussion of KAB website
and hotline.
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Board member Less Stelcz and a second by Board member Sheila
Curtis, the Board voted seven (7) for and none against to put the website discussion on the next Board
meeting's agenda.
• Election of officers. Discussion of positions required by the KAB by-laws.
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Board member Less Stelcz and a second by Board member Sheila
Curtis, the Board voted seven (7) for and none opposed that Pat Buckley be elected by acclamation as Chair
of the Keep Allen Beautiful Board.
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Board member Pat Buckley and a second by Board member Susan
Bernard, the Board voted seven (7) for and none opposed to elect Lesa Stelcz as Vice -Chair
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Board member Less Stelcz and a second by Board member Sheila
Curtis, the Board voted seven (7) for and none opposed to elect Kurt Kizer as Secretary/Treasurer with the
understanding that the staff support will continue to take minutes for the Board meetings.
• Discussion of KAB by-laws.
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Board member Less Stelcz and a second by Board member Sheila
Curtis, the Board voted seven (7) for and none opposed to table the by-laws discussion until after Board KID
training.
10. Adjourn
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Board member Susan Bernard and a second by Board member Kurt
Kizer, the Board voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed to adjourn the regular session of
the Keep Allen Beautiful Board at 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2001. The motion
carried.
