Call to Order
With a quorum of the Board members present, the Keep Allen Beautiful Regular Meeting was called
to order by Chair Simmons at 7 17 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2001, in the Council Chambers
Conference Room at City Hall, One Allen Civic Plaza, Allen, Texas.
Introduction of Guests
No guests were present.
3, AUDrove the Minutes of the August 21, 2001 Regular Meeting
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Board member Sheila Curtis and a second by Board member Less
Stelcz, the Board voted four (4) for and none (0) opposed to approve the Minutes of the
August 21, 2001, Regular Meeting. The motion carred.
Items of Interest to the Board
• Financial report(budget. Steve Massey reported that there is $5925.65 left in the KAB account
that will carry over to the next Fiscal Year. This amount includes the $500 grant from Sam's
Club.
• Board member replacement. New board members will be appointed September 20 and City
Secretary's office will notify KAB. Applicants' biography sheets were shared with the board
members.
• Grants/Awards. Application has been made to KTB for a $500 grant for education.
• Fall School Educational Outreach. Donna Kliewer reports positive interest from all schools in
the educational outreach. The fall poster/coloring contest is still in the beginning stages.
Implementation will begin when the new Community Services secretary starts in October.
• Fall Event Advanced Planning. The date for the Texas Recycles Day was set for November 10,
2001. A letter asking for volunteers for the event has been sent to City Manager for his approval.
Steve Massey has asked the City Manager for permission to use the City Hall Rotunda for a
staging area for sign -in and material pick-up Discussion included plans to display winners of
poster/coloring contests and to award prizes at this event, discussion of providing donuts and
,juice this year for the morning sign -in. Tim Dentler, Park Services Manager, has agreed to
• provide a list of parks/greenbelts to be included in fall event.
Miscellaneous items of interest. Steve Massey commended Chair Lonnie Simmons for his
contributions to the Keep Allen Beautiful Board over the past years. This was Chair Simmons
last meeting of his two terms.

• Chair Simmons brought the board up to date on the illegal dumping cases he was pursing through
the Collin County Constables Office. Discussion of asking CWD to place stickers/tags on
commercial containers to facilitate prosecution of illegal dumping in these containers.

MOTION: Upon a motion made by Board member Sheila Curtis and a second by Board member Less
Stelcz, the Board voted four (4) for and none (0) opposed to adjourn the regular session of the
Keep Allen Beautiful Board at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2001. The motion
carried.
