HomeMy WebLinkAboutMin - Parks and Recreation Board - 2019 - 04/08 - Called PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD CALLED MEETING MINUTES APRIL 8,2019 Parks and Recreation Board Present: Geoben Johnson III, Vice Chair Tom Cowart John Holley Paul Davidson • Tricia Losavio LaReeda Rentie Absent: Michael Smiddy City Staff: Tim Dentler, Director, Parks and Recreation David Angeles, Assistant Director, Parks and Recreation Brian Bristow, Assistant Director, Parks and Recreation Carrie Cessna, Assistant Director, Parks and Recreation Travis Cunniff, Recreation Manager, Parks and Recreation Anthony Garza, Recreation Specialist II, Athletic Program Anthony Hill, Resource Development Manager, Parks and Recreation Bryan Kelly, Aquatics Program Supervisor, Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium Jonathan McCloskey, Center Supervisor, Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium Jennifer Robinson, Support Specialist, Parks and Recreation Anna Marie Underwood, Special Event Coordinator, Parks and Recreation Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present With a quorum of the Parks and Recreation Board present,Vice Chair Johnson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 8, 2019, in the Community Room of the Municipal Court and Parks and Recreation Administration Building at 301 Century Parkway, Allen,Texas. 1) Approve Minutes of the February 11,2019, Regular Meeting Motion: Upon a motion by Member Losavio and a second by Member Davidson, the Parks and Recreation Board voted six (6) for and none(0) opposed to approve the minutes from the February 11, 2019 Regular Meeting as presented. The motion carried. Parks and Recreation Board Minutes April 8,2019 Page 2 2) Appoint Two Representatives to the Senior Advisory Selection Committee After explanation of the process by Carrie Cessna, Assistant Director, Vice Chair Johnson appointed Members Cowart and Rentie to serve on the Senior Advisory Selection Committee. 3) Introduce Staff Carrie Cessna, Assistant Director, introduced and welcomed Bryan Kelly, the new Aquatics Program Supervisor at the Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium. 4) Staff Recognitions and Awards Carrie Cessna, Assistant Director, recognized Jonathan McCloskey, Center Supervisor, Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium, for the successful completion of the National Recreation and Park Association's two-year Revenue Management School. 5) Receive Subcommittee Updates Member Holley reported on the Selection Panel for the Allen Event Center Rotunda Public Art Project. He noted that the Selection Panel had their first meeting and narrowed down the artists to seven semifinalists. Skype interviews of the semifinalists will take place on February 27, 2019. Member Johnson reported that he attended the Senior Advisory Meeting, and all seemed well. Discussions included upcoming trips and HVAC issues. Member Losavio reported that the Exchange Parkway Recreation Center(EPRC) Steering Committee has met twice and also took a facility tour of other similar facilities within the Metroplex. Attendance at the Pubic Input meeting was good with over 100 people in attendance. 6) Update on Allen USA Celebration Anna Marie Underwood, Special Event Coordinator, and Anthony Hill, Resource Development Manager,presented an update on the event including new zones, sponsors, entertainment and budget. 7) Review Ranking Priority Sheet for CDC Projects Tim Dentler, Director, reviewed the projects with the Board and asked members to have their project rankings in by April 11. 8) Items of Interest a.
