Century Parkway, Allen, T%.
1. Update from Judge Payton & Chief Deputy Constable Simmons on Garden Grant Project
Chief Deputy Constable Lonnie Simmons shared a presentation on the community garden at Allen High
School. Currently, Judge Payton's Students on Service are tending to the garden three days a week. To this
point, the garden yielded not only a great crop of produce, but has also been an incredible opportunity for
the students to learn and find meaning and a place in our community. Since the garden started, the student
retention rate lumped from 33% to over 50%. This high rate is very rare in the juvenile adjudication realm.
Lives are changing because of this small garden. Plans for next year are to expand and enhance the
processes at the garden to incorporate more students.
2. Update from Parks Department on Horticulture and Environmental Programs
On behalf of Jesse Simmons, Casey Bennett shared about trees removed from the US 75 right-of-way. KAB

replanting elsewhere.
