With a quorum present, the Keep Allen Beautiful Regular Meeting was called to order by Chair Stacy Gonzales at 6:45
p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 in the Council Conference Room at City Hall, 305 Century Parkway, Allen, TX.
1. Approve Minutes of October 16, 2012 Meeting & 2012 Strategic Planning Session
A motion to approve September 18 minutes and 2012 Strategic Planning Session with amendment was made by Kerry
Craven; seconded by Kelly McDonald, with all in favor
2. Update from Parks Department on Horticulture and Environmental Programs
Twin Creeks Golf Course opening now scheduled for January 5" Tree mitigation and planting of new trees is on-going.
Wildflower areas are being over -seeded throughout the city. At least 6 areas were identified as wildflower areas.
3. Receive Financial Report/Budget Update
Casey Bennett reported $22,890.97 unencumbered in the City account; $16,160.77 in the American National Bank
account.
4. Receive Update on KAB Events and Projects
• Strategic Planning Session — October 17—Sam to 12pm— After Action Report
Planning session was incredibly fruitful, especially for new board members. New initiatives were identified and
rolled into currently existing initiatives.
• City Council Presentation — October 23-7pm— After Action Report
Stacy and Casey attended and represented Keep Allen Beautiful and gave a brief commercial about Allen
Recycles Day.
• Arbor Day— October 27 (Parks)— After Action Report by Jesse Simmons
There were over 200 people at the event and approximately 150 trees were handed out. 40 trees were planted
during the event.

• Allen Recycles Day—After Action Report
Throughout the day, 968 vehicles came through bringing at least 23,0001bs. of materials, 98% of which were
reusable, recyclable or compostable. 82 volunteers supported the event. Additionally, 20 Girl Scouts and their
moms worked with the Allen Garden Club to plant and deliver pots of pansies for 17 senior citizens of Allen.
• Rotary Holiday Parade — December 2
T-shirts have been ordered through Ecolmprint and should be ready by next weekend.
• Arbor Day Poster Contest — Due December 14
This information is currently on the website and being taught throughout the fall. Kathy Keller-Mielke will be
sending out additional communication for judging the posters next month.
S. Receive Reports from Strategic Planning Initiatives
a) Communication
Daily Green Tips are being sent every day. Twitter updates are occurring on a regular basis. New Metrics
Dashboard will be included under this initiative for the future.
b) Environmental Center/Molson Farm
Brian Bristow will be invited to the KAB Board meeting to give his presentation on Molson Farm at the beginning
of 2013.
c) Environmental Education in AISD
No additional updates.
d) Parks and Recreation Liaison
Tim Dentler has been invited to the January 2013 KAB Board meeting to answer questions and provide feedback
on Parks and Recreation initiatives.
e) Scout/Service Organization Liaison
Gold Scout wants to put park benches on the trail around Ford Park, but due to vandalism, this may not be the
best place for the benches.
16. Decision for December KAB Board Meeting
A motion to cancel the December 2012 KAB Board Meeting was made by Kerry Craven; seconded by Mardy Brown, with
all in favor.
7. KTB Awards Nominees
Three KTB Awards will be written: the Governor's Award, an educator award application, and a scouting application.
Possible nominees for applications were discussed. KAB will send out tweets/Facebook messages asking for suggestions
from the community as well.

The regular session of the Keep Allen Beautiful board was adjourned at 7,45 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2012.
