Approve Minutes of January 18, 2011 Meeting Meeting minutes not available. Update from Parks Dept. on Horticulture and Environmental Programs Tim Derider discussed litter and recycling in Parks and Recreation facilities and the Tree Trails of Allen guide. 3. Receive Update on KAB Events and Projects MINUTES Receive Walmart Grant at VIP Grand Opening —AAR KEEP ALLEN BEAUTIFUL BOARD Stacy Gonzales discussed the ceremony REGULAR MEETING Walmart Grand Opening— AAR FEBRUARY 15, 2011 - 6:30 P.M. Stacy Gonzales discussed the event, where grant recipients were announced. Trees for Allen — Sale: January through February 1 I Amanda Mattle reported that 267 trees have been ordered for delivery and 40 have been donated, for a total of 307 trees sold so far this year. e. Sustainable Landscape Series—January through Mav Amanda Mattle reported that "Grow Your Garden Green" on January 29 had 30 attendees and "Valentine Roses the EarthKind® Way" on February 12 had 14 attendees. 4. Receive Financial Report/Budget Update Donna Kliewer reported $23,529.95 in the American National Bank account and $$17,657.64 in the City KAB account. 5. Receive Reports from Strategic Planning Initiatives a. Communication Nothing new to report. f. KAB Report to Council — February 22 Mardy Brown is scheduled to give KAB's annual report to Council. Arbor Day Poster Contest c winners will also be recognized at this meeting. g. Receive Arbor Day Proclamation — February 22 d. The same night of KAB's Report to Council and presentation of Arbor Day Poster Contest winners, KAB will receive the Arbor Day Proclamation with the Parks and Recreation e. Department and Parks Foundation representatives. h. KTB Awards—February 25 (due to City Hall February 1 U Nominees and application progress were discussed i. Arbor Day — March 5 This event will be held at the Allen Public Library. Twenty-five trees will be available for volunteer groups to plant Trees will also be available for sale. The event will include demonstrations, crafts, music, and a live radio broadcast by Howard Garrett. j. EarthFest—April 2 Activities for the event were discussed. k Eggcellent Family Adventure — April 16 This is a Parks and Recreation Department event that was well -attended last year. Participation in this event was discussed. I. Great American Cleanup Relocating the event to the new Service Center was discussed. in. KTB Youth & Educator Awards — May 10 Awards and possible nominees were discussed. n. Allen USA — June 25 This Parks and Recreation Department event is held at Celebration Park. KAB works with Parks to make this a zero -waste event. o. Electronics Collection — August 6 This will be the third quarterly electronics collection for the year, usually held at City Hall. p Allen Recycles Day — November 5 Activities of the day were discussed. 4.
