Call to order and announce a quorum is Present
With a quorum present, the Keep Allen Beautiful Regular Meeting was called to order by Chair Stacy Gonzales at 6:32
p.m. on Tuesday, February 16, '_010, in the Council Conference Room at City Hall, 305 Century Parkway, Allen,

L Approve minutes of January 19 meeting
MOTION: John Ogrizovich made a motion to approve the meeting minutes for January 19 as presented The
motion was seconded by Mardy Brown and carried with all in favor.
2. Update from Parks Deo[ on Horticulture and Environmental Programs
Denise Moore outlined Arbor Day preparations and discussed the delivery of trees ordered through Trees for
Allen The tree planting at Vaughan had to be rescheduled due to weather.
3. Receive update on KAB Events and Projects
a. CWD Cart Audit update
The most recent date was cancelled due to weather. More than 300 unpaid carts have been noted and the
residents of addresses of unpaid carts will be contacted via mail.
b Trees for Allen — sale January through mid-February
The sale ended Friday and 235 trees were sold
c KTB Individual Awards — due February 26 (City Hall by Feb 17)
The two individual nominations KAB is submitting are almost complete. The written portions are due at
City Flail tomorrow and supplemental notebooks need to be finished
d KAB & CWD Annual Report to Council — February 23
The PowerPoint presentation for this is finished. It will take 10 minutes or less for Stacy Gonzales to
present at Council
e. Sustainable Landscape Seminar Series — Februmv 1hroueh June
Two of the eight seminars in the series have been held There were 30 attendees for "Horticulture Basics
— Soil -Water -Plant Relations" on February 6 and 15 attendees for "Healthy Soil = Healthy Plants — All
About Compost' on February 13, even with the snowy weather.
f Arbor Day — March 6
This was announced in the TEA flier that went out in December water bills and tweeted in the daily
tweets The new Arbor Dav shirts will be green print on navy shirts with a different tree.
g Litter Index — March to May

This will take about half a day At least four volunteers are needed Kerry Craven will coordinate with
Kathy Keller-Mielke.
It EarthFest 2010 (Waiters Creek environmental fair) - April 10
This is the first of three events in April. Kerry Craven will coordinate volunteers for the multiple
upcoming events.
i. Live Green Exp0 (Plano) - Afiij 17
Volunteers are needed for two-hour ships at this event.
1. Great American Cleanup - April 24
Walmart involvement was discussed. We need to find a source for the burgers for the volunteer lunch.
Stacy will contact Starbucks regarding a coffee donation for volunteers again
L KTB Youth Awards - due May 11 (City Hall by April 30)
Kerry Craven and Mardy Brown will write nominations for KTB Youth Awards.
I. Re e -a -Shoe Contest - April (KAB to present awards end of May)
Information will be going out to schools soon The contest rnns until mid-April and volunteers from
KAB will be needed to present awards to winners.
in KTB Conference (Austin) - June 21-24
KAB members are all welcome to attend the conference for training, presentations, and awards.
n. USA Celebration - June 26
KAB will have a booth at this event, so volunteers are needed for ships. Amanda Mattle will check on
booth times
o. Electronics Collection - August
No specific date yet.
p. Educator Expo - September
This will be held in the same building as last year (the AISD Administration Building) on September 23
from 4:30 p.m to 6.00 p.m
q Home for the Ha e t festival (Village at Allen) - September
This event is still in the planning stages with no set date yet. The Village requested KAB's input for this
environmentally friendly community event.
4. Receive Financial RenortBudect Update
Amanda Mattle reported $18,q18.90 in the American National Bank of Texas account and $17,17435 in the City
KAB account
5. Receive reports from Strategic Planning initiatives
a Communication
Kerry Craven sends daily green tips via email. Amanda Mattle tweets the daily green tips as well as other
pertinent environmental news and -tidbits - Weekly green tips are included in the City of Allen e -
newsletter.
b. Environmental Center
Nothing to report at this time.
c. Environmental Education in AND
Stacy Gonzales is working toward greater teacher education on programs available through KAB. The
possibility of partially funding a Poly Blue puppet to be used for education was discussed.
d. Parks and Recreation Liaison
Parks is still working on the new Parks Plan, Beverly Pruitt emailed thanks for Parks' efforts at the zero -
waste Allen USA Celebration and will attend a meeting for the upcoming Allen USA event.
