MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
CITY OF ALLEN
May 20, 196$
ROLL CALL:
Present: G. T. Jones, Ken Posey, Jimmy Gantt and Dan Strong.
Absent: Billy Joe Enloe and R. B. Whisenant.
CASE # 1 - C. J. WHITE
Mr. White appeared and protested on Lot 6, Block 4, Allenwood
Addition. Mr. White protested that his house was rendered for
more than it cost him to build. His cost did not include surveying,
contracting or labor for brick laying. After consideration, it
was moved by Jimmy Gantt and seconded by Ken Posey that Mr. Whitefs
rendition remain at $8200. as set by the Tax Department. The
motion carried unanimously.
CASE #2 - J. M. HOLLOWAY
Mr. Holloway appeared and protested on Lot 1, Block B, Whiaenant
Estates. He felt that his assessment was too high because it
was more than he had invested in his home. Mr. Holloway withdrew
his protest after discussion was made with Equalization Board.
It was moved, seconded and carried that the schedule of values
applied to unrendered automobiles, trucks, tractors and trailers
are fair and equitable and assessments made by the Assessor and
Collector of Taxes are hereby approved.
It was further moved, seconded and carried that all protests not
herein expressly enumerated for persons who either appeared before
the Board of Equalization or filed protest and failed to appear
are hereby e�cpressly overruled and assessments an,made by the
Assessor and Collector of Taxes are in all things approved.
It was further moved, seconded and carried that the valuations
placed against property of persona who were given notice of such
valuation and who failed to appear before the Board of Equalization
are approved.
The Board of Equalization, having reviewed the protests and the a
assessment rolls covering taxable property located within the
Allen City Limits, in their entirety and after duly considering
the same, are of the opinion that the assessment rolls as corrected
should be in all things approved, There being no further business
before the Board, their labors having been completed, it was moved,
seconded and carried that the Board of Equalization sitting for
the year 196$ be duly adjourned,
