I. Approve Minutes of August 17 Meeting MOTION: Kerry Craven made a motion to approve the meeting minutes for August 17 as presented. The motion was seconded by Mark Schallhorn and carried With all in favor 2. Update from Parks Dept. on Horticulture and Environmental Programs Donna Kliewer reported that the recent extreme heat has been a challenge for the trees at the tree farm Residents are still inquiring about purchasing trees through the Trees for Allen program. The Parks Department has pulled some landscaping with extreme heat stress 3. Receive Update on KAB Events and Projects a. Educator Expo — September 23 The board discussed KAB board members attending the event to man the KAB table. ill b Windridge & Oak Hill Neighborhood Cleanup— October'_ ® This is a cleanup effort to serve the Winds idge and Oak Hill neighborhoods. c. City Council Meeting to Receixe AIIen Recvcles Dav Proclamation —October 26 Discussed Keep Allen Beautiful board members attending to receive the proclamation. d Recvcled Art Contest — Due October 28 MINUTES KEEP ALLEN BEAUTIFUL BOARD REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 21, 2010 - 6:30 P.M. Allen Recycles Day — November 6 This is a drive-through recycling and donation event held at City Hall Multiple roadway, waterway, and spot cleanups occur throughout the city The Recycled Art Contest entries are displayed in the City Hall rotunda and the awards ceremony w dl be held on this day E Arbor Day Poster Contest — Due December 3 This is no longer a nationwide contest. Texas is still hosting a contest, however Winners are honored at Arbor Dav g Rotary Holiday Parade — December 5 Scouts carq `litter -free event' banners at the beginning and end of the parade RecN sled Art Contest winners are invited to walk with Keep Allen Beautiful h. Trees for Allen — Sale: Januan through mid-February I he order of trees for this program was discussed i. KTB Awards — February 25 (due to City Hall February 111 Possible nominees were discussed. j Arbor Dav — March 5 This event w ill be held at the library Activities for the day were discussed k. Feecellent Family Adventure — April 16 This is a Parks Department event Participation in this event was discussed. 4. Receive Financial Report/Budget Update Donna Kliewer reported $16,140.95 in the American National Bank account and $4,815.35 in the City KAB Account 5. Receive Reports from Strategic Planning Initiatives a Communication Dail and weekly green tips are still being sent via email by Kerry Craven and hvected by Amanda Mettle. Some of these tips have been included in the AND HR Newsletter. b. Em ironmental Center Nothing new to report. c. Environmental Education in AND Stacy Gonzales reported that some AISD schools require certain forms to be filled out online instead of on paper and that electronic communication has increased, somewhat decreasing paper communication d. Parks and Recreation Liaison Joey Herald reported that Allen will maintain control of the Event Center and that the revamping of Chase Oaks Golf Course has been temporarily postponed. e. ScouUService Organization Liaison Nothing new to report.
