Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present
With a quorum present, the Keep Allen Beautiful Regular Meeting was called to order by Chair Mardv Brown
at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 in the Council Conference Room at City Hall, 305 Century
Parkway, Allen, TX.
1. Approve Minutes of October 19, 2010 Meeting
MOTION: Stacy Gonzales made a motion to approve the meeting minutes for October 19 as presented.
The motion was seconded by Carolyn Winkler and carried with all in favor.
2. Update from Parks Dept. on Horticulture and Environmental Programs
Denise Moore discussed EarthKind® rose trials in Allen, the tree farm, and plans for Arbor Day
3. Presentation by AHS FFA Leadership Development
The Allen FFA Agricultural Issues Forum Team presented their program, "Urbanization: Retail Giant or
Rural America."

4. Receive Update on KAB Events and Projects
a Recvcled Art Contest —AAR
There were a total of 112 entries from 12 AISD schools. Man}, winners attended the awards
ceremony at City Hall on Allen Recycles Day
b. Allen Recycles Day—AAR
This year's event had 932 vehicles and a record number of pansy deliveries. There were many
comments from the public to volunteers and workers that the event was easy to access.
c. Arbor Day Poster Contest — Due January 28 at City Hall
Contest rules and requirements were discussed and board members were invited to participate in
voting.
d. Rotary Hohdav Parade — December 5
The parade starts by the skate park. Scouts carry 'litter-free event' banners at the
beginning and end of the parade. Recycled Art Contest winners are invited to walk with
Keep Allen Beautiful.
e. Boards and Commissions Dinner — December 10
The board discussed what information to include in the Annual Board Update script to
showcase KAB's activities throughout 2010.
f Trees for Allen — Sale: January through mid-February
Allen residents can purchase trees to have delivered for planting, or they may donate them for the
City to plant. Order forms will go out in December's water utility bills.
g KTB Awards — February 25 (due to City Hall February t I )
Possible nominees and application criteria were discussed.
h. Arbor Day — March 5
This event will be held at the library Some trees will be available for volunteer groups to plant.
i. Eggcellent Family Adventure — April l6
This is a Parks Department event. Participation in this event was discussed.
j. Great American Cleanup
This event will be held at Bossy Boots as in years past The day's events and participants were
discussed.
5. Receive Financial Report/Budget Update
Donna Kliewer reported $17,010.95 in the American National Bank account and $23,909.00 in the City
KAB Account.
MOTION: Stacy Gonzales made a motion to purchase 100% recycled bags, quantity to be determined.
The motion was seconded by Beverly Pruitt and carried with all in favor.
6. Receive Reports from Strategic Planning Initiatives
a Communication
Nothing new to report.
b Environmental Center
Nothing new to report
c. Environmental Education in AISD
Nothing new to report.
d. Parks and Recreation Liaison
John Ogrizovich discussed entering a KAB team in the Alliance for a Healthier Allen's 100-Day
Challenge.
e. Scout/Service Organization Liaison
Nothing new to report.
7. Motion to Cancel December Meeting
MOTION: Carolyn Winkler made a motion to cancel the December meeting due to holiday activities.
Stacy Gonzales seconded the motion and it carried with all in favor.
