CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS
June 17, 1965
Present: Mayor Gentry T. Jones,
Aldermen: Ken Posey, Jimmy Gantt and Dan Strong.
Absent : Aldermen; B. J. Enloe and R. B. Whisenant.
Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved.
Motion by Jimmy Gantt that we annex the Shell Oil Co.
property on Highway 2170 and Highway 75 into the Allen City Limits.
Seconded by Ken Posey. Motion passed--Ayes 3, noes none.
Motion by Dan Strong for our City Engineers to get bids on
8 inch water line to be run on the South side of Highway 2170 to the
Shell Oil property. Seconded by Jimmy Gantt. Motion passed-- Ayes
3, noes none.
The Council discussed the contract presented by Uvalde Const.
Co. on the repair work to be done on West Ave. C. North from
Highway 2170 to Highway 75. It was decided to have our City Engineers
to make necessary corrections on contract before it can be signed
by the Mayor and City Secretary.
Jimmy Gantt was appointed by Mayor Jones to get more
information concerning the spray pump located at Fry Tractor Co. in
McKinney.
Dan Strong and Ken Posey were appointed by Mayer Jones to
check the hole in the creek on the north west corner of Mr. Bookout 's
property.
Motion by Jimmy Gantt to pay bills presented by City Secretary
and read by Mayor Jones. Seconded by Dan Strong. Motion passed ayes-3,
noes none.
Rev. Leon Chumbley, H. E. Hefner and G.W. Porter Jr. were
present to discuss the parking area for the First Baptist Church.
Our City Engineers are to meet with the Church Committee about the
work to be done at the Church parking area.
The City Council agreed to transfer the General Obligation
Sewer Bond money to a Savings Account at the Allen State Bank.
Mayor Jones recommended a 10% raise on salary for the City
Employees. Motion by Jimmy Gantt to raise the City Employees' salary
10%. Seconded by Ken posey. Motion passed--Ayes 3, noes none.

Former motion amended with a motion by Dan Strong that the
Salary Raise be retroactive as of April 1, 1965. Seconded by Ken Posey.
Motion passed--Ayes 3, noes none.
Mayor Jones suggested that a meeting be held with the City
Council and the Businessmen of Allen for the purpose of discussing
the possibility of the businessmen helping pay a City Police or night-
watchman.
Meeting adjorned by Mayor Jones.
