CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS
August 5, 1965
Present : Mayor Gentry T. Jones
Aldermen: R. B. Whisenant, Dan Strong, Ken Posey, Jimmy
Gantt and B. J. Enloe.
Discussion by Council pertaining to the repair of the Old Fire Truck
tank. No report has been received by the Council at this time.
Bills for the month of August were read by Mayor Gentry T. Jones.
Motion by R.B. Whisenant to pay bills read. Seconded by Ken Posey.
Motion passed--Ayes 5, Noes none.
The Committee of three Councilmen composed of Dan Strong, R.B.
Whisenant and Jimmy Gantt, appointed by Mayor Jones at the previous
meeting, for the purpose of checking the elevation of the new sewer
line installed at the well property, reports that the sewer line was
installed correctly by John Enloe and that our City Engineer's report
was incorrect.
Motion by Jimmy Gantt that the City Council accept the Allen Enterprise
as the official newspaper for the City of Allen. Seconded by
B.J. Enloe. Motion passed--Ayes 5, noes none.
Motion by B.J. Enloe--The City of Allen will pay Mr. Bill Stubbs for
the 2" water line installed across the Church of Christ property to
the Stubbs property line, which was installed some time ago by Mr.
Stubbs. Seconded by R.B. Whisenant. Motion passed--Ayes 5, noes none.
Motion by Jimmy Gantt--The City will repair the street entering the
Stubbs Addition. Seconded by Ken Posey. Motion passed--Ayes 5,
noes none.
Mayor Jones described to the Councilmen, the Printing Calculator which
has been placed at the City Hall office for several months, on trial
basis. Motion by Jimmy Gantt to buy the calculator and also check
the service contract on the machine with the salesman. Seconded by
Dan Strong. Motion passed--Ayes 4, noes 1.
Motion by B.J. Enloe--To accept Ordinance #56, Annexing the Shell
Oil Co. property to the City of Allen zoning this property "G"
for Local Business District. Seconded by Jimmy Gantt. Motion passed--
Ayes 5, noes none.

Mayor Jones reported to the Council on the meeting of the Mayors
of the County and also the advantages of such organization to the
cities. Motion by Jimmy Gantt to endorse the Mayors County Organization
and to pay our dues or however this may be handled. Seconded
by B.J. Enloe. Motion passed--Ayes 5, noes none.
Motion by B.J. Enloe--In the future, if a standard water meter has
been set and paid for and a larger water meter is required the
customer is to pay the difference in the prices of the two meters.
Seconded by Jimmy Gantt. Motion passed--Ayes 5, noes none.
Mrs. R.M. Emerson requested the City of Allen to correct water
drainage on the west side of her property. The Council agreed to
check this after the new street work has been completed.
