II. The minutes of the April 4, 2000 meeting were approved as read.
III. Discussion of the Joint Workshop Meeting with the Allen Arts Alliance.
Donna Drews Various stated that we have the responsibility as Boards to approach 4B and 4A
boards to see if we can raise funds through them. She further stated that we should be careful not
to call the project anything but a civic auditorium.
Cal Calvin said that he believed terminology indicating a broader use of the facility could be an
additional enticement to get the bond approved.
John Ross responded that a civic auditorium is a legitimate expenditure of the 4B Board and that
the term "auditorium" is consistent with what the law allows 4B money to be expended for. He
also stated that what is being proposed for the new facility has a direct economic correlation to
what is being planned for the Central Business District and that the term "auditorium" is
inclusive and will probably show up on the ballot It would also be wise to call the facility an
auditorium as at some point in the future, the Allen Arts Alliance will likely be asking voters to
approve funding for a performing arts facility
Donna Drews Various said that she would like John Ross to be involved in going to the 4B Board
with the Allen Arts Alliance to ask for funding.
Frank Snidow thought it would be good to use a conceptualized facility size in the campaign.
John Ross felt that we should be careful not to use an exact square footage, but a conceptualized
size for the facility.
IV. Discussed starting a political action committee (PAC) and discussed possible candidates to help
start it
Frank Snidow and John Ross agreed to each speak to a possible candidate.
John Ross felt that it would be prudent for Donna Drews Various and Evelyn Dawson to get an
organizational meeting planned to get everyone committed.
John Ross said that individuals who were on the Library and Arts CIP committee would be a

good group to contact about serving on the PAC. Also, people involved with Leadership Allen
would be good, as well.
V. Discussed ways to raise awareness and support for the bond election.
Frank Snidow felt that community support wouldn't be a problem, but getting people out to vote
on the proposition would be crucial.
John Ross stated that a good slogan was needed and that perhaps the Arts Alliance could be
working on that.
Cindy Wynn -Sangster stated that it would be beneficial to tap into the AISD and PTA for
support of the bond proposal. She also stated that we are going into the summer months, but
school would be starting before the bond election date
Jane Bennett said that we could distribute flyers at the schools.
Frank Snidow believed that it would be beneficial to contact the Allen Chamber of Commerce.
Cal Calvin said that he knows the Executive Director and would speak to her.
Opportunities to raise awareness and support might include:
Writing letters to the editor of the newspaper
Contacting city boards
The J C 's
The Rotary Club
Arts Fest
The Summer Sounds Concerts
Allen USA
Business Expo
VI. Other Business
Donna Brews Various commented on the Volunteers of Collin County luncheon she
attended and on her desire to see some people from Allen nominated next year.
Cal Calvin told us about a friend who was unable to get a library card as they did not live
in Collin County. It was decided that since they worked in Collin County, they were
eligible for a library card in Allen
