I.
The regular meeting of the Allen Library Board was called to order at 7:32 p.m. by Board
Chair, Fritz Dietrich. Members present were Julie Wilmoth, Eric Liepins, and Cal Williams.
Donna Variants arrived late. Also present were Library Director Barbara Buehler and Friends
members, Marian Chrisman and Debbie Vavm.
IT.
The minutes from the May 7, 1996 meeting were reviewed. Eric Liepins moved and Cut
Williams seconded for approval of the minutes as submitted.
III.
The monthly statistical report/suggestion box review. Barbam Buehler passed out the May
statistical summary for review, as well as items from the suggestion box.
IV.
Plan for NETLS June 20 membership meeting in Dallas. Barbara needs to know who will be
attending the meeting and luncheon so she can make reservations. Julie Wilmoth, NETLS lay
representative, and Donut Vanous will be attending.
V.
Update on Friends Group - Marian Christman and Debbie Vavm shared information regarding
their mail -out on the proposed joint library project to all registered voters in the area. They also
reminded the board of two public hearings in June. They reported that the Friends group is
supporting the summer reading programs and announced that Rosemary Rumbly will be a
featured speaker at the October 15th Friends meeting at the library.

Barham Buehler reported that the council is planning two public hearings (June 13 & June 24)
for public input on the proposed joint library. She also announced that Judy Register, Library
Director for the City of Scottsdale, AZ would be in town tomorrow, June 5 and will be having a
meeting at 3:00 p.m. at the library. All board members are encouraged to attend. The board
members and Barbam also discussed what the requirements would be for the public library if a
joint project were to be developed.
VII.
Barbara Buehler reported that the Summer Reading Program, "Ready, Set. Read" is off to a
great start and all programs have been well attended.
VIII.
A motion was made by Julie Wilmoth and seconded by Carl Williams to adjourn at 9:35 p.m.
