quorum was announced Members present were Drews-Vanous, John Ross, Dee Teel,
Frank Snidow, Marybeth Bonczek, and Cindy Wynn -Sangster. Visitors included Lisa
Bradley and Lisa Hinegartner from the Friends Board and Tess McKeown of the Allen
Arts Alliance Board. Library Director Barbara Buehler was also present. The Chair
recessed the meeting so that all could attend the Young Author's reception in the
library meeting room.
IL At 8 15 p m. Chair Drews-Vanous re -convened the meeting and the minutes of the
July 13 meeting were approved as read There were no August minutes as the Board
had no quorum in August and therefore no meeting
HI. The Chair recognized Tess McKeown who presented a proposal from the Arts
Alliance Board to co-sponsor with the Friends of the Library a series of concerts to be
held in the library meeting room once a month on Sunday afternoons from October
through March After some discussion, the Library Board unanimously passed a
+, motion to support the proposal for Sunday afternoon monthly concerts in the library
meeting room
IV. The Board was updated by the Library director on recent events pertaining to county
funding for public libraries. They then reviewed the library's policy on public Internet
use. After some discussion, the Board passed a motion continuing unfiltered Internet
access at the library, but requiring parental consent for all minor children (under age
18) to he able to use Internet workstations Minor library card applications forms will
have accommodation for parental consent for Internet use; current minor card holders
will be given warning that Internet access will cease unless new applications are filed
with parental consent. The Board asked that the policy be forwarded to the City
Attorney's office for review
V. After reviewing the monthly activity report, a few announcements were made
regarding upcoming NETLS meetings, officer elections, and the holiday boards and
commissions recognition dinner in December.
VI. The meeting was adjourned at 945 p m
