COMMUNITY ROOM MUNICIPAL COURT, PARKS AND RECREATION BUILDING 301 CENTURY PARKWAY ALLEN, TX 75013 Present Baez, Cheryl Brown, Mardy Gonzales, Stacy Ponder, Susan Schallhorn, Mark Absent Frieroh, Susan Hawkins, Cathy Guests Munson, Linda, Leadership Allen Staff Present Kliewer, Donna, Waste Services Manager Smith, Andrea, Education Specialist Diaz, Josue, Education Specialist Herald, Joey, Council Representative Call to Order and Announce a Ouorum is Present With a quomm present, the Keep Allen Beautiful regular meeting was called to order by Vice Chair Cheryl Baez at 6:39 pm on March 17, 2015 in the Community Room, Municipal Court in the Parks and Recreation Building, 301 Century Parkway, Allen, TX. 1. Approve Minutes of February 17, 2015 in the Community Room in the Municipal Court, Parks, and Recreation Building, 301 Century Parkway, Allen, TX 75013. • A motion to approve minutes of the February 17 board meeting was made by Susan Ponder, seconded by Mark Schalhorn, with all in favor. 2. Receive Financial Report/Budget Update. • Josue Diaz reported $15,241.77 unencumbered in the City Account and $28,465.30 in the American National Bank account. A motion to approve the financials was made by Stacy Gonzales, seconded by Mark Schalhom, with all in favor. 3. Receive Update from Parks Department on Horticulture and Environmental Programs. • Donna Kliewer reported that Jesse from Parks will bring 150 trees for sale to Earthfest. 4. Continue Discussion of KAB Scholarship Fund. • Donna Kliewer reported that $10,000 was donated to Allen Foundation for Schools as voted on by KAB. Receive Update on KAB Events and Projects. • Received GCAA Award/KTB Awards Update. Donna Kliewer reported that the "Change the World" project won First Place in the Civic Organization Award category, which recognizes contributions by civic organizations supporting the KTB mission. • Received Kids Helping Kids Book Drive — After Action Report. Andrea Smith reported that 7,244 books were collected. They will be shipped to Belize and Jamaica. • Received Litter Index — After Action Report from Josue Diaz. Allen received a LLI score of 1.08 for 2015. • Received Reuse -a -Shoe Contest Update. Andrea Smith reported that there are currently two participating schools. • Received Egg-cellent Family Adventure Update. Josue Diaz reported that KAB donated prize basket has been delivered to Parks for event. • Received Earthfest Update. Josue Diaz reported that venue is set, banners are ordered and the City of Allen webpage has been updated. This year's location is at Dayspring Nature Preserve. • Received Great American Cleanup Update. Donna Kliewer reported that an e -cycler has been contracted that meets the parameters set out by KAB last year. • Received KTB Conference in Ft. Worth Update. Josue Diaz reported that the conference will be on lune 15-17 at the Omni Hotel. Staff will commute to the conference with any KAB members that wish to go. • Received Allen USA Update. Donna Kliewer reported that staff had a meeting with Dana Hale to plan zero waste aspects of the Allen USA on lune 27, 2015. Receive Reports from Strategic Planning Initiatives and Assignment of Board Members. a. Communication i. Josue Diaz reported that KAB is tweeting and posting on Earthfest Facebook. b. Environmental Center/Molson Farm i. No Update. c. Environmental Education in AISD i. Ongoing prep for Nerf Tour on March 30, 2015. d. Parks and Recreation Liaison i. No Update. e. Scout/Service Organization Liaison i. Susan Ponder reported she visited the Boy Scout District Meeting Round Table.
