Call to Order and Announce a Ouorum is Present
With a quorum present, the Keep Allen Beautiful regular meeting was called to order by Chair Mandy
Brown at 6:40 pm on October 20, 2015 in the Conference Room of the Municipal Service Center, 900
S. Greenville Ave, Allen, TX 75002.
1. Introduction of Board Members. The board introduced themselves to each other, staff, and
guests.
2. Approve Minutes of September 15, 2015 Meeting in the Community Room of the Municipal
Court/Park and Recreation Building, 301 Century Parkway, Allen, TX. A motion to approve
the minutes of August 18. 2015 was made by Susan Ponder and seconded by Troy Webre, with
all in favor.
3. Receive Financial Report/Budget Update. Josu6 Diaz reported the new budget went into effect
with $14,604.92 unencumbered in the American National Bank account and $30,000 in the City
account. Due to the changes in the new city finance reporting system no new statement was
provided. A budget was requested by Susan Ponder. A motion to approve the financials was made
by Mark Schallhom and seconded by Elias Shaikh, with all in favor.
4. Receive Update from Parks Department on Horticulture and Environmental Programs.
Donna Kliewer reported that KAB purchased 300 trees for Arbor Day and Trees for Allen.
5. Receive Grant Proposal from Allen High School Garden Project Educator Heidi Reese.
Heidi Reese proposed a two hundred dollar financial request to help fund transportation to MRF
tours for her science classes. A motion to approve the request was made by Susan Ponder and
seconded by Troy Webre, with all in favor.

6. Election or Officers. Mandy Brown was re-elected Chair and Susan Ponder was elected Vice
Chair.
7. Receive Update on KAB Events and Projects.
• Adopt -A -Highway Program Update —Josue Diaz reported that the program reboot orientation
and training stages has begun with new adoptions scheduled for the spring with board
support.
• Educator Expo - After Action Report- Andrea Smith reported that the event was well
received but attendance numbers were low.
• Trees for Allen Update —September 25, 2015 — October 31, 2015- The board was reminded
about the tree sale that supports KAB efforts.
• Scout Project- Hillside Subdivision Update — October 24, 2015- Donna Kliewer reported that
Scout Jacob Newberry would be leading a service project in Hillside Subdivision.
• Arbor Day at Evans Elementary Update — October 31, 2015- Josue Diaz reported that the
shirts were ordered for the event and reminded the board to attend.
• Allen Recycles Day/Recycled Art Contest Update — November 7, 2015 — Josue Diaz
requested assistance in obtaining volunteers and took shirt orders from new board members.
Andrea Smith reminded the board to that voting was going to take place on November 1,
2015 with the awards assembly on November 7, 2015.
• Rotary Holiday Parade — December 6, 2015 —Josue Diaz reminded the board to attend the
parade.

a. Communication- Nothing to report.
b. Environmental Center/Molson Farm- Nothing to report.
c. Environmental Education in AISD- Nothing to report.
d. Parks and Recreation Liaison- Nothing to report.
e. Scout/Service Organization Liaison- Nothing to report.
Adiourn
This regular session of the Keep Allen Beautiful board was adjourned at 8:12 PM on
Tuesday, October 20, 2015. A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Mark
Schallhom; seconded by Susan Ponder, with all in favor.
