Call to Order and Announce a Ouorum is Present
With a quorum present, the Keep Allen Beautiful regular meeting was called to order by Chair Mardy
Brown at 6:33 pm on November 17, 2015 in the Conference Room of the Municipal Service Center,
900 S. Greenville Ave, Allen, TX 75002.
I. Approve Minutes of October 20, 2015 Meeting in the Community Room of the Municipal
Court/Park and Recreation Building, 301 Century Parkway, Allen, TX. A motion to approve
the minutes of October 20, 2015 was made by Mark Schallhom and seconded by Susan Ponder,
with all in favor.
2. Receive Financial Report/Budget Update. Josue Diaz reported that due to the changes in the
new city finance reporting system no statements can be provided. Also, the financials from the
ANBT account were unavailable at the time of this meeting. A motion to accept the financial
report was made by Mark Schallhom and seconded by Elias Shaikh, with all in favor.
3. Receive Update from Parks Department on Horticulture and Environmental Programs.
Jesse Simmons reported that Arbor Day was cancelled due to the weather. There were trees left
over from the Trees for Allen sale. He proposed having another sale in April during Earthfest and
possibly conducting a May Day sale and sapling giveaway.
4. Receive KAB Scholarship Update from Regina Taylor.
Regina Taylor reported that the KAB scholarship was now available via the Foundation for Allen
Schools website under the community scholarship .section.

1 5. Receive Update on KAB Events and Projects.
• Trees for Allen Update — November 14, 2015 — After Action Report
Sales were down this year and additional sales will be needed to deplete the overstock.
• Scout Project- Hillside Subdivision Update — After Action Report
Jacob Newberry reported that all identified homes have been addressed on the alley side or a
wooden address marker was created for their chain link fence at the home. The project
experienced several weather delays, but at this time is complete.
• Arbor Day at Evans Elementary Update — After Action Report
Event was cancelled due to the weather. The Arbor Day tree was planted at Evans.
• Allen Recycles Day/Recycled An Contest Update —After Action Report
ARD was a success and hosted 1560 participants and 415 volunteers. A tonnage report will
be available at a later date. Proceeds from the collection of electronics at the Service Center
will be put into the Allen Foundation for Schools KAB scholarship fund.
• Rotary Holiday Parade — December 6, 2015 — Josue Diaz reminded the board to attend the
parade and walk with the Recycled Art Contest winners and their families.
• Arbor Day Poster Contest—December 16, 2015
KAB board and City staff will be notified when posters are ready forjudging. A rubric will
be created forjudging.
6. Receive Reports from Strategic Planning Initiatives.
a. Communication- Nothing to report.
b. Environmental Center/Molson Farm- Stacy Gonzales reported that subcommittee voted
for 3 Million dollar funding for Molson Farm.
c. Environmental Education in AISD- Nothing to report.
d. Parks and Recreation Liaison- Nothing to report.
e. Scout/Service Organization Liaison- Nothing to report.
Adjourn
This regular session of the Keep Allen Beautiful board was adjourned at 7:43 PM on
Tuesday, November 17, 2015. A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Susan
Ponder; seconded by Elias Shaikh, with all in favor.
