CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF ALLEN
March 16, 1967
Present : Mayor, Gentry T. Jones
Aldermen, Ken Posey, Zack Robinson, R. B. Whisenant,
Dan Strong
Absent, Bill Enloe
City Attorney, Alex Orr
Citizens, Mr. & Mrs . Joe Cassady & son, Mr. George
Wilcox, and Earl Young.
Mr. Earl Young was here to discuss street repair on Young Street,
at a cost of approximately $400.00 and asked the city to pay half.

Motion by R. B.Whisenant to pay one half cost, not to exceed $200.00,
Second by Ken Posey, motion passed, ayes 3, abstained 1. (ZR)
Mr. & Mrs . Joe Cassady was here in regards to a dance hall, how many
policemen are on duty, and who can carry a gun.
Mr. George Wilcox discussed with the council what could be done
with stray dogs, he was informed we have a leash law, but we do not
have a dog pound and the law cannot be enforced .
Discussions with City Attorney,
Licenses of all businesses in the City of Allen. Pass an ordinance
declaring dance halls a nuisance where drinking is permitted.
Having place numbers on election ballots. (Attorney will check to see
if we can have place ballots under general law.)
City Judge, Mayor can act as City Judge if we have a corporation
court or the council can appoint a judge, and set salary. Mayor has
the right to give prisoners their rights after they have been jailed,
according to our attorney. According to the city ordinances, the
salaries of the city council, and city employees must be set up in
January of each year.
The Mayor is to write letter concerning fencing property on Allenwood
Street, Lot 24 block 2, owned by James Westerman.
Motion by R. B. Whisenant to pay bills presented by city secretary.
Second by Dan Strong, motion passed, ayes 4 noes 0.
Motion by Dan Strong that we let Bill Stubbs move his house into
the Stubbs Addition.
Second by R. B.Whisenant, motion passed, ayes 4, noes 0.
Motion by Zack Robinson that the discussion of the Judges salary
be tabled until the next meeting.
Second by Ken Posey, motion passed, ayes 4, noes 0.
Motion by R. B.Whisenant that tax rate be set at 10¢ per acre on farm
and ranch land annexed to the City of Allen, by voluntary action on
part of land owners, providing that such land parcels are not provided
or served by any public services by the City of Allen.
Second by Zack Robinson, motion passed, ayes 4, noes o.
Motion by R. B.Whisenant to pass Pool Hall Ordinance.
Second by Zack Robinson, motion passed, ayes 4 , noes 0.
