CITY OF ALLEN, ALLEN, TEXAS
Sept. 7th 1967
Present Mayor Gentry T. Jones
Aldermen : J.D. Smith, R.B . Whisenant, Mack Holloway,
Zack Robinson and LeRoy Ewen.
Engineer : Walter F. Hicks .
Minutes of former meeting read and approved.
Mr. Hicks, opened and read aloud BIDs on contract # 865, deep
water well, which were as follows ;
Layne-Texas Co., Dallas, Texas $66,318.00 working time 150 days
Texas Water Wells, Inc.-;Houston,Texas $61,178.00 75 "
Katy Drilling, Inc. , Katy,_, Texas $69,855.00 120 "
Mrs Ruth Pringle talked with the City Council about a
LIBRARY for the City of Allen, after some discussion Mrs Pringle
asked if the City would be able too help support a Library.
Mayor Jones explained that we should talk with our City Attorney
with reference too what the City can do about supporting a Library.
Motion : by R.B. Whisenant, that we do not take any action on
the BIDs on WELL CONTRACT # 865 until the next regular meeting date.
Motion second by Zack Robinson. Motion Passed Ayes 5 noes 0.
Motion : by J.D. Smith to pay voucher presented by our Engineer
in favor of STIMSON CONTRACTING COMPANY, In the amount of $50,637.03
Motion was second by LeRoy Ewen, motion passed ayes 5 noes 0 .
Discussion : about disbanding the collection of utility bills
here at the City Office.
Motion: was made by R.B. Whisenant that we formally advise the
utility companys (Lone Star Gas, Texas Power & Light and Southwestern
Bell Telephone ) that we will have too discontinue the collection
service. Motion was second by Leroy Ewen, Motion passed 4 for,
(1) One obstained - Zack Robinson.
Motion: By J.D. Smithttoobncrese the salary of the City Secretary
to $ 400.00 per month, effective at the close of the utility
company collections.
Motion second by LeRoynEwen, motion passed ayes 5- noes 0.
