CITY OF ALLEN, ALLEN, TEXAS
SEPT. 21 1967
Present : MAYOR GENTRY T. JONES , DADERMEN : R.B . WHISENANT,
MACK HOLLOWAY, J.D. SMITH AND Le::-ROY EWEN. ENGINEER: Mr WALTER
HICKS, AND MR. OCONNER::WITH LAYNE-TEXAS COMPANY.
MINUTES OF FORMER MEETING READ & APPROVED
A LETTER OF RESIGNATION AS ALDERMAN FROM ZACK ROBINSON, WAS READ
BY MAYOR JONES.
MOTION : BY J.D. SMITH THAT THE CITY COUNCIL EXCEPT Mr. ROBINSON t S
RESIGNATION. Motion second by R.B. Whisenant. Motion passed Ayes
(4) Four - noes (0) .
Mrs RUTH PRINGLE GAVE A REPORT ON THE LIBRARY. Mrs Pringle
thinks it would be best too have a MUNNICIPAL LIBRARY, controled
by a LIBRARY ORDINANCE, and have the CITY COUNCIL appoint the
Library Board , The Council requested the names of all the ladies
in the group that are woking on this project,and the Council
also thought it would be nice too have all of these ladies on the
Board at this time. ( Names attached ) Mrs Pringle informed the
Council that the COUNTY was going too donate 250.00 to the
Library.
Motion : was made by R.B. Whisenant for the City of Allen to also
make a donation in the amount of $ 250.00 for the Library.
Motion was second by J.D. Smith. Motion passed ayes 4, noes 0.
Our Engineer Mr. Hicks and the City Council rade ,a 'study_-,6f the
well contract # 865 which was made by the
Layne-Texas Company, after some changes were penciled in a

Contract # 865 acording to the specks presented by our Engineer
Mr. Hicks
Motion was second by Le Roy Ewen, motion passed ayes 4 noes 0.
Motion by J.D. Smith to pay bills due at this time, second by
Mack Holloway. Motion passed ayes 4 noes 0.
Meeting adjorned
Moyor Jones is to get a appointment with Dr. Dutton about
Easements.

My present plans call for me to leave the city
Sept. 17, 1967 for an extended period.
I feel that a special election should be called
to fill this vacancy as provided by State Law.

that we have helped the City of Allen grow.
