AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS,
SETTING, FIXING, AND ADOPTING THE TAX RATE FOR THE CITY OF ALLEN,
TEXAS, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 1979, AND ENDING
SEPTEMBER 30, 1980; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE FOR THIS
ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the City of Allen's Home Rule Charter and Article 1175(7),
V.T.C.S., the City of Allen has the full power of local self-government including the power to
provide for the levying of any general or special ad valorem taxes for any purpose not
inconsistent with the Constitution of the State of Texas; and,
WHEREAS, the Tax Assessor -Collector for the City of Allen, Collin County, Texas, in
accordance with the provisions of Article 7244c, V.T.C.S., has calculated the tax rate which
may not be exceeded by the City Council of the City of Allen, Collin County, Texas, without
the holding of a public hearing as required by Article 7244c, V.T.C.S.; and,
WHEREAS, the Tax Assessor -Collector for the City of Allen, Collin County, Texas, has
calculated said maximum tax rate to be EIGHTY-TWO CENTS ($0.82) on each ONE HUNDRED
DOLLAR ($100.00) valuation of property within the limits of the City of Allen and has
calculated and announced that said rate does not exceed by more than Three Percent (3%) an
increase in taxes for the previous fiscal year; and,
WHEREAS, all prerequisites required by law have been duly done and performed in a
timely manner; and,
WHEREAS, upon full review and consideration of the matter, the City Council is of the
opinion that the tax rate set, fixed and adopted hereinafter is proper and should be adopted for
the fiscal year 1979-1980;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ALLEN, TEXAS:
Section I. The findings of fact, recitations, and other matters set out in the preamble
of this ordinance are hereby adopted and made a part of the body of this ordinance the same as

Section II. There is hereby levied and shall be assessed for the tax year 1979 of the
City of Allen, an ad valorem tax of SEVENTY-EIGHT CENTS ($0.78) on each ONE HUNDRED
DOLLAR ($100.00) valuation of property within the.limits of the City of Allen and subject to
taxation.
Section III. Such ad valorem tax shall be appropriated between the Debt Service Fund
and the General Fund as follows, to -wit:
For the General Fund 0.4058
For the Debt Service Fund 0.3742
Total 0.7800
Section IV. The Tax Assessor -Collector of the City of Allen is hereby directed to
assess, for the 1979 tax year, the rates and amounts herein levied, and when such taxes are
collected, to distribute the collections in accordance with this ordinance.
Section V. This ordinance shall become effective immediately from and after its
passage.
