REGULAR MEETING FOR THE
CITY OF ALLEN, ALLEN, TEXAS
JUNE 6th 1968
Meeting called to order by Hon. Mayor Frank Dugger
Council members present as follows : Dan Strong, Robert Lowman,
Claude Whitaker, LeRoy Ewen and Mack Holloway.
The City Council set as a equalization board for the Town of Allen
and their was no-one came in to discuss any tax problems.
The Council discussed several things such as ; street work on East
Avenue C North and in the Stubbs addition, water line from the new
well, for which the Contract has been signed, what to do about garbage
pick-up after July 31 at which time our contract with the McKinney
Sanitation Company terminate, skating rink, investment for our
RESERVE Fund and many others.
Motion by Roy Ewen for Mayor Dugger to invest the Reserve fund in
Bonds. Motion second by Robert Lowman. Motion passed ayes 5 /noes 0.
Mr. Homer Charlie Brown of McKinney turned in application for the
position of patrolman for the City of Allen. The Council informed
Mr. Brown that they would contact him later.
Mr Jack Parson was in to check with the Council about the Alley-Way
around the City property in the Jan Marr develppment, no changes
were made.
Mr. William L. Holmes was in to talk with the Council and City
Police about his son, who is having some trouble. In Mr. Holmes
remarks he asked the Council for help in any way they could to
keep his son out of trouble.
Motion by Dan Strong to pay bills presented by the City Seely.
motion second by Robert Lowman. Motion passed ayes 5 noes 0.
In closing our meeting Mr. Robert Lowman discussed the unsettled
condiations of today among our people, Mr Lowman was especially
interested and concerned in our young people and some of the things
that we as citizens and City Councilmen might do to help these
young people, Mr Lowman suggested that we have some of the young
people's organizations such as the "BOY*SCOUTS come in and visit
with the City Council, erect some Flag Poles for the City & ect.
The Council endorced these recommendations and expressed their
willingness to help.
