October 17th 1968
City Council-City of Allen, Allen,Texas.
Council members present : C.D. Whitaker, Dan Strong, Roy Ewen and
Mack Holloway. Robert E. Lowman was absent, Mayor Frank Dugger was
also absent due to illness. Meeting called to order by Mayor-Protem, D. Strong
Kin Posey and J.L. Dement representing the Fire Department, they
showed a MASK which the Fire Dept. had bought for intering burning
buildings, and asked the City Council too buy a second one as it was
badly needed for the protection of the Fire Boys at a cost of Approx-
imately $ 310.00. Motion by LeRoy Ewen to buy another MASK for the
Fire Department. Motion second by Mack Holloway
Motion passed ayes 3 noes 0.
Mr W.E. Ford discussed some changes on the Fire Station as shown on
the new PLAT by ENSLIE OGLESBY ARCHITECTS of Dallas. Mr. Ford states
they are about ready too start on the new Fire Station, also the location
of the Fire Station has been checked with the STATE FIRE INSURANCE
COMMISSION. Mayor-Protem Dan Strong expressed his O.K. on the matter.
T.L. Ray and Fred Fisher was here in regard too the ANIMAL ORDINANCE
for information as to what they will have to do about moving their
animals out of the City Limits. Mr Fisher states and I quote " that
he now has hogs as well as other animals at his place, and says he
has been here before the Town was organized and he will come to a show-
down before he moves his animals out, also that he has a lawyer ready
when he is issued the first ticket, and he would like to know who is
making the complants?" unquote.
The Council is going to take some time to discuss this matter with
the City Attorney before they come up with a answer.
Mr W.A. Johnson who ownes some property east of Hi-Way 5 inside
the City Limits of the Town of Allen was here to present plans to the
City Council and ask for a permit under zoning ordinance # 32 to
build a Mobil Home Park on his property. The City Council would like
the advise, or opinion, on this matter from our City Engineer and
our City Attorney.
Discussion : on an ordinance to abolish the parking of MOTOR
VEHICLES that has been abolished or out of running order for any
reason canot be left on the Streets, allies or lots inside the City
limits of the City of Allen for to long a time.
Our Chief of Police Mr Burton introcuted an Ordinance to cover
the above discussion, after the Council had made a study of said
ordinance a motion was made by C.D. Whitaker to pass the Ordinance
and have it printed in the paper. Motion second by Mack Holloway.
Motion passed (3) for / (0) none against.
Motion by LeRoy Ewen to pay bills. Motion sec. by C.D. Whitaker
Motion passed (3) three for / (0) none against.
Bill Whisenant to check about Mrs Jim Rankins garage and also
part of her house is in a ALLEY - WaY . This alley has been closed
for several years and Mrs Rankins would like to secure said alley
from the City of Allen. no commet.
