Call to Order
With a quorum of the Board members present, the Regular Meeting of the Animal Shelter Advisory
Committee was called to order by Chair Pam Ackerman at 7:01 p.m. on Wednesday,August 17,2022.
1. Approve Minutes of the March 16,2022,Meeting.
The minutes were approved by the acclamation of the board.
2. Received an Update on Staffing for Animal Control Officers,and Shelter Operations.
Two new officers, Jared Renfro and Madelyn Price, have been hired and are currently in training.
The shelter has been closed except by appointment, but plan on reopening on Wednesday,August
24t'.
3. Received an Update on addition of VIP/COP Administrative Volunteers.
The VIP/COP volunteers have been very helpful. Attending Citizen's Police Academy in hopes
of getting new volunteers.
4. Received an Update on Online Donation Software Project.
Donorbox Software is in place. Between July and August,received$1259.27 in donations.
5. Received an Update on Upcoming Events,including 2022 Clear the Shelters.
The 2022 Clear the Shelters event ran from August ls`-31st Forty-five(45)animals were adopted
during the event. The shelter also sponsored a successful community blood drive with Carter
BloodCare.
6. Discussion on Shelter Operational Processes for Daily Enrichment,Cage Setup for Cats,
Length of Stay and Free Time for all animals.
Co-Chair Jessica Lockhart brought up the concept of treats and toys for enrichment. Treats using
Milkbones was discussed. The length of stay was discussed, including which dogs and cats have
been here the longest. Consideration for cat portals was discussed.

7. Discussed Social Media Platforms and Processes for Approving.
ACO Tammy Chow-Hayes, as the social media facilitator for the shelter,discussed the training
provided and the City of Allen's policies on Facebook posts.
8. Discussed Proposed Amendments to the Allen Code of Ordinances,Chapter 3—Animals
and Fowl,and/or Standard Operating Procedures.
Co-Chair Jessica Lockhart asked for a list of the Standard Operating Procedures.
Adjournment
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Alan Coffman and a second by Ray Yarbrough, the Board voted
five (5) for and none (0) opposed to adjourn the Regular Meeting of the Animal Shelter
Advisory Committee at 8:02 p.m. on Wednesday,August 17, 2022. The motion carried.
