KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS:
COUNTY OF COLLIN X
THAT WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of
Allen has investigated into the desirability and useful-
ness of cluster -type mailboxes in the City of Allen;
and,
WHEREAS, the Council has determined to its
satisfaction that such mailboxes would be a detriment
and a liability to the community in that it has clearly
been demonstrated that such mailboxes could not be
properly maintained; that they would be gathering places
for trash and debris; that they would be an obstruction
to the safe flow of traffic; that they would pose a
substantial inconvenience to postal patrons and that they
would develop into an eyesore of the community; and,
WHEREAS, the citizens of the City of Allen have
overwhelmingly voiced their overwhelming opposition
to the installation of such mailboxes, and the City
Council recognizes that the City is the voice through
which its citizens demands, needs and wishes are heard.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ALLEN to lend this, its full support to
endorse and encourage the citizens of Allen now engaged in
the struggle to repel cluster -type mailboxes in favor of
house to house delivery and'totencourage-and endorse whatever -action
,they -might institute toward -that end.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Council to prohibit the
placing of cluster -type mailboxes on any City owned or
controlled property.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Council to cause this
resolution to be adopted and spread upon the minutes of
this Council and copies hereof be forwarded to whomever
this may concern.
