WHEREAS, the Fire Department of 'the City of is often
called upon to respond to fire emergencies in
neighboring areas outside -the City; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of the City of have incurred large
increases in -the cost of providing fire protection for
this community as well as rural areas; and,
WHEREAS, the inhabitants of the rural areas outside the city
limits do not contribute to those greatly increased
costs of fire protection through tax payments -to the
City of but do pay -taxes -to Collin County; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of wishes by this
method to express, on behalf of the citizens and tax-
payers of this community, its desire for a more
equitable and realistic financial contribution from
-the County of Collin in support of -the cost of providing
rural fire protection;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF
SECTION I. That the Collin County Commissioners Court be
respectfully urged to provide a significant increase
in its budget appropriation for 1977-78 for paying
its share of -the cost of providing rural fire pro-
tection 'throughout Collin County.
SECTION II. That a certified copy of -this resolution be presented
'to County Judge Nathan E. White for consideration of
-the Court upon its adoption and approval by -this City
Council.
