RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE ALLEN AMERICAN THE
OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS.
WHEREAS, Article 1025, Vernon's Annotated Texas Civil
Statutes, provides that the city council of a home -rule city
shall, as soon as may be after the commencement of each
municipal year, contract with a public newspaper of the city
as the official paper thereof, same to continue as such until
another is elected; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Allen is
desirous of formally complying with Article 1025 and Article
28A, V.A.T.C.S., and officially designating, pursuant to
resolution, said public newspaper as the official public
newspaper of the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
Section I. The City Council of the City of Allen hereby
designates, pursuant to Article 1025, V.A.T.C.S., The Allen
American, a public newspaper in and of the City of Allen,
Collin County, Texas, as the official paper of said City,
same to continue as such until another is elected, and shall
cause to be published therein all ordinances, notices and other
matters required by law or by the ordinance to be published or
by the Charter of said City.
Section II. FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager,
or his designee, shall be hereby given whatever authority
necessary to contract with The Allen American for said news-
paper to become the official newspaper of the City and to do any
and all acts necessary and appropriate in furtherance of this
resolution and to effectuate said contract.
