Home My WebLink AboutR-1305-12-94RESOLUTION NO. 1305-12-94(R) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS, APPROVING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE FOR FUNDING FOR THE HIRING OF THREE ADDITIONAL POLICE OFFICERS, PLEDGING PAYMENT OF THE CITY OF ALLEN'S SHARE OF THE COST OF THE THREE ADDITIONAL OFFICERS OVER THE NEXT THREE YEARS, CONTINUATION .OF FUNDING FOR THE ADDITIONAL OFFICERS AFTER THREE YEARS AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF ALLEN REGARDING THE GRANT APPLICATION. WHEREAS, the City of Allen recognizes a need for hiring additional officers; and, WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice has indicated that grant funds may be available under the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994; and, WHEREAS, the City of Allen pledges its share of the cost of the project, as required, if a grant is obtained. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS, THAT: Section 1: The City of Allen anticipates assuming the cost of the additional officers after the grant period. Section 2: The City of Allen pledges its portion of the project cost if a grant is obtained. Section 3: The City Council of the City of Allen hereby approves and authorizes the City Manager to act on behalf of the City of Allen regarding the grant application and acceptance if the grant is approved.
