REGULAR MEETING
February 1, 1973
City Council, City of Allen
Present: Mayor Frank Dagger
Councilmen, Robert E. Lowman, Clifford Hart, Johnnie Blankenship and
Johnny Pannell.
Absent: C.D. Whitaker.
Motion Bob Lowman Second Johnny Pannell that minutes of previous meeting
be approved as read. Motion carried 4 For 0 against.
A group of citizens appeared before Council to protest the installation
of the proposed cluster mail system as proposed by Postmaster Bill Enloe.
After much discussion, Mayor Dogger suggested that the Editor of the Allen
American conduct an opinion poll in his paper so that each resident of the
City would have an opportunity to express their opinion on this matter. This
matter then would be considered at the February 15th meeting of the City Council.
Motion Johnnie Blankenship Second Clifford Hart that bills presented be
Approved. Motion Carried 4 For ) Against.
Motion Bob Lowman Second Johnny Pannell that an election be called for
April 7, 1973 for the election of three Councilmen. Motion Carried 4 For 0
Against.
Motion Bob Lowman Second Johnny Pannell that February 15 be set as date
for Public Hearing on Rezoning requests of James R. Wirt, Tam Cate and Don
Lortscher. Motion Carried 4 For 0 Against.
Bid from Allen Fence Company for resetting street signs was tabled
for further study since more information was needed as to what the Fence
Company proposed to do in their bid.
Motion Clifford Hart Second Bob Lowman that, upon the reccomendation of
the Library Board, Librarian Mary Tod's salary be increased from $2.00 to
$2.35 per hour effective February let. Motion Carried 4 For 0 Against.
Ronnie Gentry appeared before Council in regards to the Fire Department
fighting fires outside the jurisdiction of the City. Motion Bob Lowman Second
Johnnie Blankenship that the Fire Department not answer any calls outside the
City of Allen's jurisdiction, with the exception of those Citys that have a
reciprocal agreement with the City of Allen in answering fire calla outside
their respective Cities. This motion to became effective March 1st, 1973.
Motion Carried 4 For 0 Against.
Tom Cate appeared before Council seeking permission to move 2 houses
into the City. These houses would contain approximately 1200 square feet
each and would be located on Lot 3 - Block H- O1d:Jlonatfion to the City.
Motion Bob Lowman Second Johnny Pannell that permission be granted to move
these houses into the City at this location. Motion Carried 4 For 0 Against.
Motion Johnny Pannell Second Bob Lowman that meeting adjourn. Motion
Carried 4 For 0 Against,
