Present: Mayor Frank Dugger
Councilmen: C.D. Whitaker, Clifford Hart, Johnny Pannell, Johnnie
Blankenship & Bob Lowman.
Motion Bob Lowman Second Clifford Hart that minutes of previous meeting
be approved as read. Motion Carried 5 For 0 Against.
Ray Hartley, representing Hartley Construction Company appeared before
Council to explain his bid on street repairs submitted on July 5. Motion Bob
Lowman Second Johnnie Blankenship that Hartleyte bid of $12,047.50 to repair
the asphalt streets be approved and that a cheaper grade of rock be used on
the repair of the alley, road to dog pound and road that goes to Kenneth
Ernst's property. Mr. Hartley to furnish City with price of rock at a later
date. Motion Carried 5 For 0 Against.
John Looney from Southern Sanitation appeared before Council seeking a
1 year extension on his garbage contract with the City. Mr. Looney also rec-
ccmended that the City increase it's pickups from once per week to twice a week.
Garbage would be picked up on Monday, Tuesday, thursday & Friday at an increase
of 90 cents per month per customer. Charge for Business pickups will still be
negoiated with the business and Southern Sanation. Motion C.D. Whitaker Second
Bob Lowman that Southern Sanations aontracUM extended for 1 year and twice a
week pickup be started effective August 6th. Motion Carried 5 For 0 Against.
Bide were considered on the purchase of a new Fire Truck. After much dis-
cussion with representatives of the Companies bidding, Motion Johnny Pannell
Second Bob Lowman that the bid from Boardman Compary be accepted on a Model
1800 International Chassis totaling $24,128.00 be accepted. Terms of payout
be $8,042.66 upon delivery, $5 361.75 due 30 days from delivery, $5,361.75 due
60 days from delivery and $5, 1o1.7 -6 -due 90 days from delivery. The Boardman
cempary is to confirm these terms by letter. Motion Carried 4 For 1 Against.
Clifford Hart voted against. Councilman Hart stated that he was not against
purchasing the Truck, but preferred a Ford Chassis instead of the International.
Motion Clifford Hart Second Johnnie Blankenship that Gillilland Insurance
Agency be authorized to renew the City's Workman Compensation Insurance Policy.
Motion Carried 5 For 0 Against.
Motion C.D. Whitaker Second Johnnie Blankenship that August 2, 1973 be set
as date for Public Hearing on Zoning request of Henry Tennyson,Jr. Request is
to change the zoning on 7.7 acres in tae J.L. Read and Peter Wetsel Surveys
from R-16 to OC Classifaction. Motion Carried 5 For 0 Against.
Motion @.D. Whitaker Second Clifford Hart that bills presented be approved.
Motion Carried 5 For 0 Against.
Council set as Board of Equalization for the year 1973. Since there was no
one present to protest their valuation, Motion By C.D. Whitaker Second Bob Lowman
that the assessment rolls as presented by the Assessor & Collector of Taxes be
Approved for the year 1973. Motion Carried 5 For 0 Against.
At this time the Council had finished it's regular agenda and adjourned
into Executive Session to discuss Personnell problems.
