Call to Order
With a quorum of the Board members present, the Regular Meeting of the Animal Shelter Advisory
Committee was called to order by Chairperson Pam Ackerman at 7:13 p.m. on November 16, 2022.
1. Introduction of New Board members Traci Dyck,Ed Swierenga and Nat Dreyer.
2. Conduct Election of Officers.
Chairperson Ackerman called for nominations from the Board for the purpose of electing officers
for the 2022-2023 year. The following slate of officers was presented:
Pamela Ackerman for the position of Chair.
Jessica Lockhart for the position of Co-Chair.
Deborah Michnick for the position of Secretary.
With no other nominations offered, Chairperson Ackerman closed the call for nominations. The
officer positions were elected by acclamation of the board.
3. Approve Minutes of the November 16,2022,Meeting.
The minutes were approved by the acclamation of the board.
4. Received an Update on Staffing for Animal Control Officers,and Shelter Operations.
Position opened due to Rita Huang's transfer to Code Compliance. Applicant Mikayla Hailey
going through hiring process.
5. Received an Update on addition of VIP/COP Administrative Volunteers.
Received approval to work with the Allen CERT members. Attending their monthly meetings.

111 6. Received an Update on Eagle Scout Projects and Play Yard Fencing Project.
Received deck boxes from Eagle Scouts. Received three(3)quotes for fence repair and
installation.
7. Discuss Shelter Operational Processes and Current Statistics.
Still closed on Sundays due to Staff Shortages. Plan to reopen on Sundays when staffing is back
to normal.
8. Received an Update on Recent and Upcoming Events.
Tours, donation drives, and special events are increasing.
9. Discussed Proposed Amendments to the Allen Code of Ordinances,Chapter 3—Animals
and Fowl,and/or Standard Operating Procedures.
Ordinance changes adding the two new board members have been completed by the City
Secretary's Office.
Adjournment
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Jessica Lockhart and a second by Ed Swierenga,the Board voted
seven (7) for and none(0) opposed to adjourn the Regular Meeting of the Animal Shelter
Advisory Committee at 8:24 p.m.on Wednesday,November 16,2022. The motion carried.
