City Council, City of Allen
Present: Mayor Frank Dugger
Councilmen: Bob Lowman, Johnny Pannell, C.D. Whitaker and Clifford Hart.
Absent: Johnnie Blankenship
Motion Bob Lowman Second Clifford Hart that minutes of previous meeting be
approved as read. Motion Carried 4 for 0 against.
Public Hearing on request for zoning change of Baker -Crow properties was
discussed. Motion Lowman Second Johnny Pannell that request be approved.
Motion carried 4 for 0 against.
Council discussed bids on pump station. Motion Bob Iowman Second
Clifford Hart to approve the bid of R. E. Davidson of Grand Saline, Texas.
His bid was $ 157,148.00. Motion carried 4 for 0 against.
Motion Bob Lowman Second Johnny Pannell to set April 5, 1975, as the
election date for the 3 City Council positions that expire the last of April.
Motion carried 4 for 0 against.
Mrs. Bernice Harney appeared about a sidewalk alongside the bridge on Main St.
Mayor advised Mrs. Harney that the City Council is behind this project
100%. Don Rodenbaugh and Ed Lynge discussed the possibilities of widening
Main St. from Highway 75 to Allen Heights Dr. They advised that the cost
to the City would be approximately$3-350,000, and that it would take 3-5
years to complete. After much discussion, council appointed Rodenbaugh and
Iynge to represent the City in their dealings with the State and to report
back to the Council their findings.
The traffic problem around the Elementary School was discussed by Chief
Hancock and he advised those present that there must be at least two lanes
of traffic open for emergency vehicles. Those found to be in violation
of the parking restrictions will be cited by the Police Department.
Ron Gentry appeared about paving the Library parking lot. Council decided
to have crushed rock hauled in and used for parking facilities.
Police Department will open bids for safe on February 6, 1975•
Ron Gentry appeared about step -van for Fire Dept. Council advised him
to secure at least 3 bids on this type van.
Motion Bob Iowman Second Johnny Pannell to approve purchase of 2 sling air -
packs and 4 bottles for Fire Department. Motion carried 4 for 0 against.
Motion Bob Iowman Second C.D.Whitaker to pay bills presented by City
Secretary. Motion carried 4 for 0 against.
Motion C.D.Whitaker Second Bob Lowman that meeting adjourn. Motion carried
4 for 0 against.
