REGULAR MEETING
March 6, 1975
City Council, City of Allen
Present: Mayor Frank Dogger
Councilmen: C.D. Whitaker, Clifford Hart, Johnny Pannell,
Johnnie Blankenship and Bob Lowman
Motion Bob Lowman Second Johnny Pannell that minutes of last meeting be
approved as read. Motion carried 5 for 0 against.
Dale Williams submitted the Little League budget and improvement request
sheet to the Council. Budget request was $ 7408.00. Mr. Williams advised
that the $ 6000.00 for lights was necessary if not this year, but by next
year. Motion Bob Lowman Second Johnny Pannell to allow baseball play on
Wednesday nights, Lowman and Pannell voted for with Clifford Hart, Johnnie
Blankenship and C.D. Whitaker voting against. Council decided that it was
not feasible to install lights this year, but they assured Mr. Williams
that next year they would accept sealed bids on the lights. Motion Johnnie
Blankenship Second Bob Lowman to appropriate $ 2000.00 this year to little
league baseball. Motion carried 5 for 0 against.
Wes May of Manpower Program discussed the Federal Governments Program of
providing MLinicivaldties with labor which would be paid for by the Government.
Mayor advised Mr. May to get with Police Chief Hancock and City Secretary
Larry Moore and discuss the program further.
Robert Neeley appeared about part-time work for the city. Council advised that
they would consider his application.
Mayor Dugger read letter about the fire ant spraying of Allen. Motion Bob
Lowman Second Johnny Pannell to participate in this program. Motion carried
5 for 0 against.
Motion Clifford Hart Second Johnnie Blankenship to accept bid of $ 500.00
on old police car submitted by Jerry Carpenter. Motion carried 5 for 0
against.
Mickey Pierson discussed the possibilities of the City Participating in the
Citizen of the Year award with the Jaycees on April 25th. A£isr-@Assussien
