Present: Mayor Frank Dugger
Councilmen: C.D. Whitaker, Clifford Hart, Johnny Pannell,
and Bob Lowman
Absent: Johnnie Blankenship
Motion Bob Lowman Second Johnny Pannell that minutes of last meeting
be approved as read. Notion carried 4 for 0 against.
Notion Bob Lowman Second Johnny Pannell to adopt resolutions #174 and
#175• Resolution #174 (re: Building Code) Resolution #175 (asking
that Allen be included in the National Flood Insurance Program).
Notion carried 4 for 0 against.
Motion Bob Lowman Second Clifford Hart to pay bills presented by
City Secretary. Motion carried 4 for 0 against.
Notion Bob Iowman Second Clifford Hart that City begin work on
drainage ditch on Allen Heights Drive. Motion carried 4 for
0 Against.
Water Superintendent Jimmy Eaton appeared and requested that
City purchase a water tapping machine at an approximate cost of
$ 750.00. Council advised Mr. Eaton to check the prospects of
purchasing a used machine, and to check back with the Council
on May 3.
Leland McJuakins appeared at the request of the Council to discuss
misquotes in the Allen American. Mr. McJunkins told the Council
that the City agreed to maintain the park adjacent to the elementary
and that this had not been done. Council advised Mr. McJunkins that
they were unaware of this problem and assured him that it would
not.happen again. Council advised him that they had never agreed
to help pay the light bill at the tennis courts, however, they told
him that they would help if a timer was put on the lights so that
they would not be on until 2 or 3 A.M. in the morning. Council also
advised that they would like to see a sign posted that this tennis
court was for Allen residents and their guests only. Mr. McJunkins
discussed the possibility of hiring a summer recreational director
for the Parks and Recreation Program. Council advised that they
were in favor of this idea and for the School to find someone to
take this position and discuss further at a later date.
Mayor Dugger swore in the new Police Officer, Richard Carroll.
Motion C.D.Whitaker Second Clifford Hart that meeting adjourn.
Motion carried 4 for 0 against.
