City Council, City of Allen
Present: Mayor Frank Lugger
Councilmen: C.D. Whitaker, Clifford Hart, Mickey Pierson,
H.C. Brooks, Jr., and Bob Lowman.
Motion C.D. Whitaker Second Mickey Pierson that minutes of last meeting
be approved as read. Motion carried 5 for 0 against.
John Madden of Jonathan Kutner developers appeared about public park
in Walden Park. Mr. Madden presented a cost estimate on this park to be
located on EMerson Dr. Motion Mickey Pierson Second C.D. Whitaker
that the City appropriate $ 1500.00 maximum on this project. Motion
carried 5 for 0 against.
Mayor Dugger discussed the Park and Recreation Board and the resignation
of David Blackford from said Board. Motion Bob Lowman Second Mickey Pierson
to accept resignation. Motion carried 5 for 0 against. Motion Bob Lowman
Second Mickey Pierson to appoint Dan Canterbury to this board. Motion
carried 5 for 0 against.
Wanda Robinson, a representative of the Loving Care Day Center, discussed
the fact that the City's Suer recreation Dept. was hurting their business.
Robin Streff, director of Recreation Dept., informed the Council that there are
only about 12 children that are staying the entire day. After much discussion
the Council advised Mrs. Robinson that at the present time they did not feel
that business was being hurt eonough to warrant changing the program. However,
the Council advised that they would keep a close watch on the situation and
if things did get worse a change in the program would be considered.
Council set June 27, 1975 as date for 1975 Equalization Board Hearing.
Notion Bob Lowman Second C.D. Whitaker to appoint Johnny Pannell,
H.R. Daugherty, Glenn Renfroe, and Hid Ereckson(alternate) to this Board.
Motion carried 5 for 0 agianst.
Water Superintendent Jimmy Eaton gave a report on the new pump house. He
advised the Council that the water hook-up will be approximately one week late.
Motion C.D. Whitaker Second Clifford Hart to run in the Allen American a resolution
commending Rev. Ramon Womack for his service to this community. Motion carried
5 for 0 against.
A Petition was presented to the Council requesting that a k way stop signs be
placed at the comer of Roaring Springs and Thoreau. Council advised that the
placing of stop signs was left to the discression of the Police Dept. and that
if the Police feel they are needed they will be placed there. Motion C.D. Whitaker
Second Lowman to lower speed limit at the afore -mentioned streets to
M.P.H. . Motion carried 5 for 0 against.
Motion C.D. Whitaker Second Mickey Pierson that meeting adjourn into executive
session. Motion carried 5 for 0 against.
