City Council, City of Allen
Present: Mayor Frank Dagger
Councilmen: C.D. Whitaker, A.C. Brooks, Jr., Bob Lowman,
Clifford Hart and Mickey Pierson.
Motion Bob Lowman Second Mickey Pierson that minutes of last meeting
be approved as read. Motion carried 5 for 0 against.
Council discussed the fact that Fire Chief Ron Gentry had requested
that the City give the 1974 Plymouth Police car to the Fire dept.
This car is to be used to transport emergency equipment to the scene
of an accident or fire. Motion Mickey Pierson Second Clifford Hart
that this vehicle be conveyed to the Fire Dept. Motion carried 4 for
I against.
Motion Bob Lowman Second C.D. Whitaker that the City hire a prosecuting
attorney for Corporation Court. Motion carried 5 for 0 against.
Motion C.D. Whitaker Second Bob Lowman that the City increase the
Corporation Court Judges Salary to $100.00 per month. Motion carried
5 for 0 aginst.
Water Superintendent Jim Eaton appeared and requested that meter taps
and sewer taps be raisedto as follows:

Motion Bob Lowman Second Mickey Pierson that these fees vbe adopted.
Motion caried 5 for 0 against.
Jim Eaton also requested that he be permitte d to hire an additinal
employee for the water dept. Motion C.D Whitaker Second Clifford Hart
that the water dept. hire an additional man at starting salary of
$460.00 and that within 6 months he must be a resident of Allen.
Motion carried 5 for 0 against.
Head Librarian Mary Tod appeared and requested that she be permitted
to attend the quarterly meetings of the Library Association. Mrs. Tod
also requested that the library be permitted to purchase $450.00 worht
of assorted magazines. Motion C.D. Whitaker Second Clifford Dart
that both requests be granted. Motion carried 5 for 0 Against.
Police Chief Anthony Hancock qppeared and requested that the Police Dept.
be permitted to purchase a Citizens Band radio for the squad car.
Motion Mickey pierson Second Bob Lowman that City purchase CB radio
for Police car. Motion carried 5 for O against.
Motion Mickey Pierson Second Clifford Hart to pay bills presented.
Motion carried 5 for 0 against.
City Secretary Larry Moore appeared and explained the problem that be had
been having with the radio (base -in City Hall. He explAined that on
several occasions the radia would only operate on the city frequency and
would not transmit on the ounty frequency. He also explained that repairs
on this radio had averaged approximately $ 30 per month. ROCA Communications
had al3lisea Mr. Moore that to rework th@s 1947 radio would cost Anywhere
from $69-100.00 and that this labor would not guarantee there would not
be any further trouble with the unit. Mr. Moore requested that the City
purchase a new radio for the Amount of $ 248.00 to replace this antiquated radio.
The new radio would have a warranty. Council decided to table this
matter for further discussion.
Motion C.D. Whitaker Second Mickey Pierson that meeting adjourn. Motion
carried 5 for 0 against.
