Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present
With a quorum of the committee members present, the regular meeting of the Public Art
Committee was called to order by Vice -Chair Benson at 6.03 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 in
the Parks and Recreation Conference Room at 301 Century Parkway, Allen, Texas.
Action Items
L Approve minutes from the June 16, 2015 Regular Meeting
MOTION: Upon a motion made by committee member Bennett and seconded by committee
member Gilbert, the committee voted four (4) for and none (0) opposed to accept
minutes from the June 16, 2015 regular meeting as presented.
2. Approve a Recommendation to City Council for a Public Art Project and Related Artist
Budget for Future Ford Pool Project
After review of the specifications shared by Brandstetter Carroll, Inc at the last meeting and
confirmation that the project would include the six columns previously discussed the follow mg
motion was brought forward.
MOTION: Upon a motion made by committee member Gilbert and seconded by committee
member Bennett, the committee voted five (5) for and none (0) opposed to
recommend to City Council a public art project at Ford Pool and establish a project
budget of $40,000.
3. Approve a Recommendation to City Council for Appointments Related to an Artist
Selection Panel for the Future Ford Pool Project

The Committee reviewed the applications currently on file and will encourage others in the
community to apply, but moved forward with the following motion. Staff will contact applicants
and fill the three community spots and also reach out to COAST inquire about a representative.
MOTION: Upon a motion made by committee member Raines and seconded by committee
member W n[sche, the committee voted five (5) for and none (0) opposed to
recommend to City Council a selection panel consisting of Public An Committee
members Wntsche and Raines, three community members, one Parks Board
member, and one representative from COAST
Discussion Items
d. Artist Call Discussion
Following a brief discussion the honorarium will be set at $500 for this project and staff will
work with the design consultant to refine the specifications and prepare the call to be published
within the next several weeks.
5. Ongoing Project Updates
The bridge for the Cottonwood Creek Trial Bridge Project is scheduled to be delivered mid-
August Mr. McComb is working with the artists to finalize the mounting details. Installation of
the artwork will likely be late September or early October Once this schedule is confirmed a
date for the dedication can be set
Staff is scheduled to meet with Dunaway Associates, the design consultant on the Watters Branch
Project, on July 30 for review of the preliminary design and playground renderings. As the
process moves forward project artists, May and Watkins, will be involved.
The Advisory Committee will be meeting in September, if not sooner, to kick-off the update to
the Public Art Master Plan
