' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, TO APPLY FOR, ACCEPT, REJECT, ALTER, OR TERMINATE
GRANT # 3119401 A GRANT FROM THE STATE OF TEXAS, OFFICE OF THE
GOVERNOR, CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION PROVIDING FUNDING FOR A USE OF
FORCE JUDGMENT SIMULATOR, IF AWARDED; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Allen, and its police department, must maintain high standard of training for its swom
police officers; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen Police Department h): rtc_goized the need to provide its officers with the most
realistic and practical training possible to better prepare them for polemist violent epcmmtrm officers might face
during their shifts and the skills to attempt to de-escalate these encounters; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen Police Department believes that additional training using a Use of Force Judgment
Simulator will enhance the training officer receives and should decrease potential injuries to officers and citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City of Allen has agreed that in the event of loss or misuse of the Criminal Justice Division
' Funds for a Use of Force Judgment Simulator Grant (application # 3119401), they will be returned to the State of
Texas, Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division in full.
SECTION 2. The City of Allen is committed to funding all required and applicable matching funds through cash
and/or in-kind.
SECTION 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to apply for, accept, reject, alter, or terminate a grant from
the State of Texas, Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division to assist the City of Allen and the Allen
Police Department to fund a Use of Force Judgment Simulator (application #3119401).
SECTION 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage in accordance with the
provisions of the Charter of the City of Allen, and it is accordingly so resolved.
