Motion Pierson Second Chandler to adopt minutes as read. Motion carried
5 For 0 Against.
Boyd Williams of TP & L appeared in regard to their rate increase request
of December 22, 1976. As the Railroad Commission has ruled to grant a
11.5 % increase, Farmer made the motion to grant this amount,l"was second
by Tollett• Motion carried 4 For and Chandler voted against.
Pete Yurgenson, not speaking for Water Commission, but for himself, had
several questions for the Council regarding our accounting system and
the engineer. He felt that the accounting procedures are not being
followed in the manner that he felt was proper. Mickey explained to him
that it was hard to tie the budget and accounting together, as they were
not done by the same people. We are to have Felix Smith submit his
prelimanary plans for the new accounting system at the next meeting, if
possible. We are to have meeting with Walter Hicks, June 2, also.
Pete Ford presented the Council with an offer of 7.7 acres on St. Mary's
Dr. This property is available to the Council Q $5000 an acre. They
are to take this under consideration and give answer in 45 days.
Joe Farmer and Mickey Pierson are to attend the next school board meeting
to discuss a systematic method of wokring together on land purchases.
Jan Call reported on the Metro Phone service. Southwestern Bell had
recommended to the Public Utility Commission a $16 'Lo 40 increase in
our rates. She requested that someone from the City attend their open
hearings this aummer.
Mayor Dogger informed the council of the advice given by Mr. Orr regarding
the builders. Mr. Orr advised that we can not keep them from building,but
that they could be controlled by strict codes and enforcements. He also
advised that charges could be filed in City Court against the builder
who built Mr. Seglem's house, but that wouldn't help Mr. Seglem.
Motion Farmer Second Pierson to pay the bills as presented. Motion carried
5 For 0 Against.
Motion Brooks Second Pierson to adjourn. Motion carried 5 For 0 against.
