CONFERENCE ROOM MUNICIPAL SERVICE CENTER 900 S. GREENVILLE AVE. ALLEN, TX 75002 PRESENT Baez, Cheryl Brown, Mardy Ponder, Susan Schallhorn, Mark Shaikh, Elias Wallace, Chris Webre, Troy Call to Order and Announce a Ouorum is Present STAFF PRESENT Diaz, Josue, Education Specialist Kliewer, Donna, Solid Waste Manager With a quorum present, the Keep Allen Beautiful regular meeting was called to order by Chair Mardy Brown at 6:34 PM on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 in the Conference Room of the Municipal Service Center, 900 S. Greenville Ave, Allen, TX 75002. 1. Approve Minutes of January 19, 2016 Meeting in the Conference Room of the Municipal Service Center, 301 Century Parkway, Allen, TX. A motion to approve the minutes of January 19, 2016 was made by Cheryl Baez and seconded by Susan Ponder, with all in favor. 2. Receive Financial Report/Budget Update. Josud Diaz reported that there was $10,039.93 in the American National Bank account. A motion to accept the financial report was made by Susan Ponder and seconded by Chris Wallace, with all in favor. 3. Receive Update from Parks Department on Horticulture and Environmental Programs. Jesse Simmons reported that the Fall Creek area was cleaned by a Girl Scout troop, and a boy scout restored the cemetery gravestones/markers. 4. Receive Update on KAR Events and Projects. Arbor Day Poster Contest — Update - Andrea Smith reported that the winner would have a tree planted at their school, Olson Elementary, on February 26, 2016, at 8:45 AM. KTB & KAB Awards Update— Josub Diaz reported that all award applications due in February were completed and turned in with help from the board. Youth award applications are not due until May. Susan Ponder volunteered to present KAB's Report to Council at the February 23, 2016 City Council Meeting, with the award from Keep America Beautiful presented to the City by Donna Kliewer immediately following. Litter Index — March 2, 2016 — Josu6 Diaz requested assistance with getting volunteers. Mandy Brown, Chris Wallace, and Elias Shaikh volunteered to operate the KAB booth at the event. • Great American Cleanup — April 16, 2016— Update—Josu6 Diaz reported that mailers have been completed. • Lowe's Grant (Trees, Monarch, Hillside) — Update — Josu6 Diaz reported that KAB did not receive the grant The winner was the City of Mesquite. 5. Receive Reports from Strategic Planning Initiatives. a. Communication —Josu6 Diaz reported that Twitter and Facebook usage has increased in promotion of the spring events. b. Environmental Center/Molson Farm — Donna Kliewer reported that the dedication of Pat Buckley's bench, a former KAB board member, will be on May 21, 2016 at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. c. Environmental Education in AISD— Chris Wallace was assigned to this initiative. d. Parks and Recreation Liaison — Elias Shaikh reported about the Parks meeting on February 8, 2016 at 7 PM. e. Scout/Service Organization Liaison — Nothing to report. c Civic Organization Liaison- Josu6 Diaz presented the current adopter list to the board. A 'oum ' This regular session of the Keep Allen Beautiful board was adjourned at 7:48 PM on Tuesday, February 16, 2016.
