CITY HALL BASEMENT - MEETING ROOM B 305 CENTURY PARKWAY ALLEN, TX 75013 GUESTS PRESENT Farmer, Joe, Former Mayor of Allen STAFF PRESENT Diaz, Josue, Education Specialist Flannigan, Chris, Engineering Director Kliewer, Donna, Solid Waste Manager Massey, Steve, Community Services Director Smith, Andrea, Education Specialist Call to Order and Announce a Courtrai is Present With a quomm present, the Keep Allen Beautiful regular meeting was called to order by Vice Chair Susan Ponder at 6:34 pm on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 in the City Hall Basement Conference Room B of City Hall, 305 Century Parkway, Allen, TX 75002. 1. Approve Minutes of February 16, 2016 Meeting in the Conference Room of the Municipal Service Center, 301 Century Parkway, Allen, TX. A motion to approve the minutes of February 16, 2016 was made by Chris Wallace and seconded by Troy Webre, with all in favor. 2. Receive Financial Report. Josue Diaz reported that there was $10,089.93 in the American National Bank account. A motion to accept the financial report was made by Susan Ponder and seconded by Mark Schallhom, with all in favor. 3. Receive CIP/Bond Presentation by CIP Committee Member Joe Farmer. Former Mayor of Allen, Joe Farmer and Chris Flanigan, gave a CIP/BOND presentation. 4. Receive Update from Parks Department on Horticulture and Environmental Programs. Donna Kliewer reported that the leftover trees from the Trees for Allen program are going to be used for the Clean Neighborhood Project. 5. Receive Update on KAB Events and Projects. • Litter Index — March 2, 2016 — After Action Report - Josue Diaz reported that the Litter Index score was 1.74 which falls within the acceptable plus or minus error of margin from the previous years' score. 305 CENTURY PARKWAY • ALLEN, TEXAS 75013 • 214.509.4100 WEBwww enyofallen.org • EMAIL coa@cityofallen.org ' • Kids Helping Kids Book Drive — After Action Report—Andrea Smith reported that Anderson Elementary won the book drive competition by collecting 3,108 books. Their prize was $400 in environmental books for their school library. Overall, 11,162 books were collected through the AISD schools. The majority of the books will he going to Sand Branch, Texas to start a community library. • Trees for Allen — March 19, 2016 — Update - Donna Kliewer reported that the leftover trees from the Trees for Allen program are going to be used for the Clean Neighborhood Project. • Eggs-cellent Family Adventure — March 19, 2016 — Update —Josu6 Diaz requested KAB board members signup to volunteer for the event. • Earthfest — April 2, 2016 — Update - Josu6 Diaz requested KAB board members signup to volunteer for the event. • Great American Cleanup — April 16, 2016 — Update - Josu6 Diaz requested KAB board members signup to volunteer for the event. • Drag Take Back Program — April 30, 2016 — Update — Donna Kliewer reported that in addition to the drug take back at the Great American Cleanup, the Allen Police Department will conduct another drug take back on April 30 in the Lowery Freshman Center south parking lot. • KTB Awards- Update — Donna Kliewer reported that KAB won the GCAA award. She gave a brief history about the award. 6. Receive Reports from Strategic Planning Initiatives. ' a. Communication — Josu6 Diaz reported that Twitter and Facebook usage were on the rise. b. Environmental Center/Molson Farm — Nothing to report. c. Environmental Education in AISD — Andrea Smith reported that Solid Waste would be targeting after school programs to expand environmental education efforts. d. Parks and Recreation Liaison — Nothing to report. e. Youth Organization Liaison - Susan Ponder reported that the Scouts publish a newsletter that KAB might want to submit blurbs to as part of our environmental education expansion efforts. f. Civic Organization Liaison — Josu6 Diaz reported summer will mark the return of the Adopt -A -Program revitalization effort. Adjourn A motion to adjourn regular session of the Keep Allen Beautiful board meeting was made by Chris Wallace and seconded by Elias Shaikh, with all in favor. The meeting was adjourned by Chairman, Mardy Brown. The regular session of the Keep Allen Beautiful board was adjourned at 8:32 pm on Tuesday, March l5, 2016. ATTEST'.
