Present: Mayor Frank hugger
Councilpersons: Mickey Pierson, Charles Chandler, Joe Farmer
and Eileen Tollett
Absent: H.C. Brooks, Jr.
Motion Plerses Second Tollett to adopt minutes as read. Motion carried
4 For 0 Against.
A Public Haring was held on the Tom Cate property, Lot 3B -4B, Block 15
Old Donation, to allow a glass business in a IN Zoning. The owner,
Algia Orr III, explained that he would be repairing and replacing auto%
glass and manufacturing storm windows. Motion by Tollett and Second
by Chandler to approve this request. Motion carried 4 For 0 against.
Willie Jacobs and Rich Thome of Occidental Life Insurance were present
regarding the council's decision for Group Hospitalization. Walter Curtis
was spokesman for the employee heads of departments, and informed the
council that all dept. heads with the exception of 1, wished to retain
Crown Life rather then change. Joe Farmer pointed out the savings in
premiums for a year, and wanted to know why they made this decision.
The general concensue was that it wasn't that they didn't wast
Occidental Life, but just that they weren't that dissatisfied with
Crown and just wanted to quit changing companies and also the concern
for coverage of pre-existing conditions. Mr. Jacobs assured the council
that anything that would have been covered by Crown would receive
coverage by Occidental with no lose of any benefits. The motion was
made by Farmer Second by Chandler to accept Occidental Flan and the
motion carried 4 For 0 against. The Council then agreed that should
for some reason the Occidental Plan not pay as they had promised on
these pre-existing conditions that the City would have to stand good
for it.
Chief of Police, Anthony Hancock infomed the Council that Richard
Carroll had been promoted to Aset. Chief and that George Brakefied was
now a Sergeant.
The Council advised Roger Powell to proceed with the advertising for
a Park & Recreation Director, as the season was now upon us.
Motion Farmer Second Pierson to pay the bills. Motion carried 4 For 0
Against.
Motion Farmer Second Pierer to adjourn. Motion carried 4 For 0 Against.
