' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, TO APPLY FOR, ACCEPT, REJECT, ALTER, OR TERMINATE A
JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT FROM THE STATE OF TEXAS, OFFICE OF THE
GOVERNOR, CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION PROVIDING FUNDING FOR SPEED
NOTIFICATION AND TRAFFIC DATA COLLECTIONS SYSTEMS, IF AWARDED.
WHEREAS, the City of Allen, and its police department, is concerned about the roadway and streets the residents
and visitor of Allen travel on; and,
WHEREAS, the Allen Police Department is tasked with the responsibility of insuring that the posted speed limits
are enforced thus enhancing public safety; and,
WHEREAS, the Allen Police Department wants to be proactive and encourage drivers to voluntarily comply with
speed limits by using Speed Signs that notify drivers of how fast they are travelling; and,
WHEREAS, the Allen Police Department wants to gather traffic related data for analysis to assist in insuring
public safety on the roadways wants to purchase a covert device that gathers traffic data and speeds
inconspicuously.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT:
' SECTION 1. The City of Allen has agreed that in the event of loss or misuse of the grant funds provided through
the Criminal Justice Division for the Speed Notification and Traffic Data Collection Systems will be returned to the
State of Texas, Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division in full.
SECTION 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to apply for, accept, reject, alter, or terminate this grant
from the State of Texas, Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division to assist the City of Allen and the Allen
Police Department to fund the Speed Notification and Traffic Data Collection Systems.
SECTION 3. That this resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage.

COUNTY, TEXAS, ON THIS THE 2340 DAY OF FEBRUARY, 2010.
