Call to Order and Announce a Ouorom is Present
With a quorum present, the Keep Allen Beautiful regular meeting was called to order by Chair Mardy
Brown at 6:35 pm on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 in the City Hall Basement Conference Room B of City
Hall, 305 Century Parkway, Allen, TX 75002.
1. Approve Minutes of July 19, 2016 Meeting in the Conference Room of the Municipal
Service Center, 301 Century Parkway, Allen, TX. A motion to approve the minutes of July 19,
2016 was made by Chris Wallace and seconded by Troy Webre, with all in favor.
2. Receive Financial Report. Josu6 Diaz reported that there was $1,561.85 the American
National Bank account. A motion to accept the financial report was made by Susan Ponder and
seconded by Troy Webre, with all in favor.
3. Scout Project Update —Guest —Jackson Newberry. Jackson Newberry presented the conclusion
of his Eagle Scout project to the board. He reinforced an eroding area along a walking trail at the
Day Spring Nature Preserve with trees and bushes, and installed railings to protect residents from
falling over the edge.
4. Receive Update on KAB Events and Projects.
GCAA Presentation to Council — July 26, 2016 — Update —Donna Kliewer reported the
reception was well attended by volunteers, adoption groups, and community partners. Mardy
Brown reported there was a good mix of people who support KAB.
STAR/North Texas Awards — August 11, 2016 — Update — Andrea Smith reported that Josue
Diaz and Andrea Smith went to the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens to attend the awards
luncheon. They also witnessed a 30 grader from Allen, Joseph James, accept an award for
Volunteer of the Year for coordinating with his friends to perform a cleanup of the historic
dam site in Allen. He was nominated by Community Waste Disposal.
Adopt -A -Program Expansion — August 16, 2016 — Update — Josu6 Diaz reported that the date
for the new adopters' interest meeting will be September 22, 2016 in the meeting room #B at
City Hall, 305 Century Parkway, Allen, TX 75013.

• Special Project: Fall Tree Planting in Windridge — Date TBA — Donna Kliewer reported that
portions of the trees from the Trees for Allen project were going to be planted in Windridge.
Solid Waste is in the middle of conducting a survey to determine the exact number needed.
City Employees will plant around 60 of the trees as part of their United Way Day of Canng
event on November 2, 2016.
• Educator Expo — September 27, 2016 —Update —Andrea Smith reported that there was a
change to the flyer that included opening remarks from the Interim AISD Superintendent and
either the Mayor or Mayor Pro Tem.
• Arbor Day Celebration — October 29, 2016 — Update — Josud Diaz reported that the
celebration will be at the grand opening of The Orchards Park.
• Allen Recycles Day — November 5, 2016 — Update- Josud Diaz reported that the flyer was in
the process of being updated and participants confirmed. Andrea Smith reported that there
will be the Recycled Art Contest awards ceremony at 11 am in the Council Chambers on that
day as well.
• Rotary Christmas Parade — December 4, 2016 — Update - Josue Diaz reported this year's
Rotary Christmas Parade will be handing out the blue shirts in preparation for the redesign of
new shirts.
5. Receive Reports from Strategic Planning Initiatives.
a. Communication — Nothing to report.
b. Environmental Centen'Molson Farm — Nothing to report.
c. Environmental Education in AISD — Andrea Smith reported that she was preparing to
meet with the Allen PTA Environmental Chairs on September 21 and that there are a
high number of schools that do not have an E -Chair.
d. Parks and Recreation Liaison — Nothing to report.
e. Youth Organization Liaison — Susan Ponder reported September I 1 is a scouting event
designed to increase recruitment efforts. Also, news releases were sent to the Scout
newsletter on behalf of KAB.
f Civic Organization Liaison — Josu6 Diaz reported that September 22 was the date for the
new adopter's meeting.
Adiourn
A motion to adjourn regular session of the Keep Allen Beautiful board meeting was made by Susan
Ponder and seconded by Elias Shaikh, with all in favor. The meeting was adjourned by Chair Mandy
Brown. The regular session of the Keep Allen Beautiful board was adjourned at 7:23 pm on Tuesday,
August 16, 2016.
