1981 at the Allen City Hall, 302 W. McDermott.
Discussion and Consideration of
Action Relating to the Proposed
Collin County Farmers Market
The City Council called the special meeting to discuss options
available to them in response to the Collin County Commissioners
action taken at their April 20, 1981 meeting in which the Commissioners
approved construction of the Farmers Market at the proposed location
in the City of Allen's extraterritorial jurisdiction meeting only one
of the requirements of Resolution No. 339, being the septic tank
system.
The Council discussed the options of taking legal action
immediately based on the advise of the City Attorney that the
Farmers Market would be a subdivision. In further discussion, the
Council concluded that the Farmers Market could be of benefit to
residents of Allen and directed that the City Manager, Jon McCarty,
communicate to the Collin County Commissioners that if the County
would agree to approval of an annual agreement for the operation of
the market, to be approved by the City Council, then the City Council
would not otherwise restrict the use or operation of the Farmers
Market.
