' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, ESTABLISHING GUIDELINES FOR PRESENTING
CERTIFICATES AND PLAQUES FOR BOARD AND COMMISSION MEMBERS AT
THE CONCLUSION OF BOARD MEMBERSHIP; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Allen City Council desires to provide recognition to Board and Commission members
who are at the conclusion of their service to the City by establishing guidelines for presenting certificates and
plaques to these members.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The Guidelines for Certificates and Plaques attached hereto as Exhibit A, having been
reviewed by the City Council and found to be acceptable, are hereby approved and adopted.
SECTION 2. These Guidelines shall be used by the City Council and City staff to provide recognition to
Board and Commission members at the conclusion of their service on a City Council appointed Board or
Commission.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective from and after its passage

Board and Commission
Guidelines for Presenting
Certificates and Plaques
Introduction
It is the practice of the Allen City Council to recognize Board and Commission members at the conclusion of
their service and for their performance of duties and length of service.
Policy
Upon completion of his or her service as a member of a City Council appointed Board or Commission, the
member will be publicly recognized and tbm*ed for his or her service to the City, whenever possible.
Recognition shall be presented using the following guidelines.
• Members serving less than 12 months as a Board or Commission member:
- will receive a Certificate of Appreciation recognizing their service (example of wording attached).
• Members serving 12 months or more as a Board or Commission member:
- will receive a 5" x 7" plaque recognizing their service (example of wording attached); and
- will be invited to attend the City Council's Annual Board and Commission Dimer following their
retirement or resignation from service.
Administration
These guidelines will be administered by the City Secretary.
